New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani‘s father, Mahmood Mamdani, sits on the advisory policy council of an anti-Israel organization tied to terrorism, according to the group’s website.
The revelation, first reported by Fox News, comes as the elder Mamdani is facing backlash after a questionable excerpt of his 21-year-old book resurfaced, expressing his sympathy for suicide bombers.
“Suicide bombing needs to be understood as a feature of modern political violence rather than stigmatized as a mark of barbarism,” Mahmood Mamdani wrote in his 2004 book Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America, the Cold War, and the Roots of Terror.
Mahmood Mamdani’s remarks are notable, considering his role at The Gaza Tribunal, an organization that supports the movement to boycott, divest, and sanction Israel amid its ongoing war with Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
Founded last year in London, the Gaza Tribunal accuses the Israeli military of committing genocide against Palestinians. Despite the group’s stated goal to “legitimize and encourage civil society solidarity initiatives around the world,” the founder and some of its members are tied to terrorism.
