(DCNF)—SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly fired back at legal guest Dave Aronberg Friday on her show after he tried to give Attorney General Pam Bondi the benefit of the doubt when it came to how she spoke about the “Epstein files” on live television.
The FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) said they found no evidence that deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein maintained a “client list.” They also said he was not a victim of foul play when he died. Republicans have called out the administration’s lack of transparency on the remaining files and pushed back against Bondi. While discussing the issue on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Aronberg told the host he would give Bondi the “benefit of the doubt” based on her previous interview with Fox’s Jesse Watters, noting she hadn’t said that the information being released would “blow your socks off in that interview.”
“I do think that if anything, that you can get caught up in the moment when you go on Fox News and they’re pushing you to say ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ And if you say it’s a nothingburger, yeah, it’s not a good interview. So perhaps that is a legitimate issue — ” Aronberg said before Kelly jumped in.
“But Dave, you tell me, you are a former state’s attorney. You know very well how the average, the normal, like literally every other attorney general would answer those questions,” Kelly said. “Number one, they would not be on television talking about the case. Number two, if for some reason they really felt compelled to go on television, you know exactly what they’d say. It’s an ongoing investigation, and I’m not at liberty to discuss it yet, period.”
On Feb. 26, Bondi appeared on Watters’ show to discuss when the long-awaited files from Epstein’s case would be released. With the public demanding transparency, Bondi said she had the “Epstein files” on her desk, adding the public would see “a lot of flight logs, a lot of names, [and] a lot, a lot of information” the following day.
After a briefing at the White House on Feb. 27, Bondi and the administration got major backlash when the public discovered that conservative influencers were given a binder labeled “Epstein Files: Phase 1” with the information placed under a brief embargo.
“Well, she’s breaking norms and going on TV, but so is her boss, right? She’s taking the cue from her boss, doing things that no one has ever done before,” Aronberg said before Kelly stopped him.
“The boss can do whatever the hell he wants! The president can always do whatever the hell he wants,” Kelly said. “The attorney general, the top law enforcement officer of the United States under every administration, Republican, Democrat, 99% of the time, keeps their mouth shut because they don’t want to get ahead of the facts.”
Some Republicans have called for Bondi’s resignation.
Epstein died in 2019.
Questions regarding Epstein’s death have circulated online. His brother Mark cast doubt on Epstein killing himself. He told the Miami Herald in 2019 that his brother “knew a lot of stuff about a lot of people.” Mark Epstein hired forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, who told Fox News after his evaluation that Epstein’s autopsy appeared more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicidal hanging.
The DOJ released over 10 hours of footage from outside Epstein’s cell to dispute speculation that he did not kill himself. Some have questioned a missing minute in the video. Bondi told reporters Tuesday it was the result of the Metropolitan Correctional Center resetting the cameras every night.
The FBI and DOJ said Epstein did not maintain a “client list.” Bondi, however, repeatedly said in interviews that there were “flight logs” and “names” among the files.
“They don’t want to get ahead of the investigation, and it’s really not appropriate to be commenting because this is what can happen. She turned herself into the Brian Williams of DOJs, where she just spewed a bunch of nonsense because she wanted attention, and now she’s been caught. That’s how it looks to me,” Kelly added.
