I’ve written before about the Adriana Smith case. Smith was the pregnant Georgia woman who experienced brain death and was kept on a respirator to give her son, whom his grandmother named Chance, the opportunity to be born alive.
The case enraged pro-abortion activists, many making ableist statements about Chance and his mother.
In an interview, Chance’s grandmother clearly said that she wanted Chance to survive. She said, “I just want to be clear on something: we want her to have her baby. We want her life to continue through her children.”

Newkirk was angry that the hospital staff didn’t give her and the rest of the family the choice whether to disconnect Smith from life support. But once Smith was connected, Newkirk wanted her to be kept alive and to raise baby Chance herself.
On her GoFundMe, Newkirk has updated her followers about the baby’s condition.
On July 2nd, 2025:
Praying is need for baby chance
Just take a minute out of your day and for baby chance God’s in control
On July 5th, 2025:
Today I held my grandson his breathing was better I did skin to skin I was so afraid chance is 2 pounds and 6 oz keep praying for him
Newkirk wants Chance to live very much and is asking for prayers for him.
But this hasn’t stopped pro-abortion people from wishing him dead.
Here are some examples from around the internet. These screenshots come from X and Facebook.
Note that this comment got 109,000 likes. This is over 100,000 pro-abortion people who were wishing for Chance’s death.
These are not the opinions of a few kooks.
Thank you to Live Action News for some of these screenshots.
This one is from when Smith was still on life support.
On Instagram, a pro-abortion activist posted about Smith’s situation, and got the following comment from someone with the handle Genesis 807:
Sometimes, situations and circumstances are unfortunate. Life is unfair … But to let an innocent baby die because you disagree with how it came into the world is not an excuse for murder.
She responded:
Whoa, whoa. That would not be murder. It would not be murder for the fetus to die when the mother died, to allow the fetus a natural death is not murder. Let me put it in terms that you, Genesis 807, with the little cross profile picture, will understand. That would have been God’s Will.
So, according to this pro-abortion fanatic, Chance’s death would have been “God’s will.” What qualifies her to speak for God, I don’t know.
The pro-abortion people making these comments never cared about Adriana Smith. They don’t care about her family. They don’t care about Smith’s mother, or what she wants. They certainly don’t care about baby Chance. All they care about is their own pro-abortion ideology.
To them, Smith and her family were only tools to be used to attack pro-lifers and promote a pro-abortion agenda. They never cared about her or her family at all.
