Biden’s former doctor pleads the fifth during congressional testimony

There’s a concerted effort by many, including Republicans on Capitol Hill, to get to the bottom of former President Joe Biden’s operations in the White House during his final years when his cognitive health severely declined.

And the latest plot twist is Biden’s doctor, who, according to the Daily Mail, “pleaded the Fifth Amendment protection against ‘self-incrimination’ during his testimony to Congress on Wednesday.”

The House Oversight Committee used its subpoena power to summon Dr. Kevin O’Connor for testimony this week as part of its ongoing investigation.

Given that the former presidential doctor pleaded the fifth, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said it’s further proof that “there was a conspiracy to cover up President Biden’s cognitive decline.”

What’s happening?

Comer blasted O’Connor and President Biden — along with his inner circle at the White House — for covering up the elderly former president’s condition.

“It’s now clear there was a conspiracy to cover up President Biden’s cognitive decline after Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician and family business associate, refused to answer any questions and chose to hide behind the fifth amendment,” Comer said.

He added, “Dr. O’Connor took the fifth when asked if he was told to lie about President Biden’s health and whether he was fit to be President of the United States.”

That response definitely raised eyebrows all across Washington D.C.

Lawyers for O’Connor insist that he pleaded the fifth due to patient privilege reasons.

David Schertler, O’Connor’s attorney, said in a statement that the doctor ‘asserted the physician-patient privilege, as well as his right under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, in declining to answer questions from the staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform regarding his service as Physician to the President during the Biden Administration.’

O’Connor’s testimony would have been huge as he was the doctor who repeatedly cleared Biden for duty throughout his term in the White House.

“When the doctor pleads the 5th, you’ve got a problem. Transparency much?” one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, “This stinks of a full-blown cover-up. The American people deserve answers, not silence.”
