New York City’s latest political earthquake has delivered a shock to Democrats themselves—and it should send chills down the spine of every American who cares about our nation’s future. Zohran Mamdani, the radical socialist darling of the far-left fringe, has clinched victory in the Democratic primary for mayor, leaving even his own party’s leaders scrambling to distance themselves.
Make no mistake: Mamdani isn’t merely another progressive Democrat pushing higher taxes and woke social policies. He represents something far darker—a full-throated embrace of anti-Israel extremism and radical socialist ideology that threatens to infect American political discourse at its core. Mamdani openly supports the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement aimed squarely at undermining Israel, America’s closest ally in the Middle East. He has even gone so far as to threaten to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a ‘war criminal,’ demonstrating a stunning contempt for diplomatic norms and basic decency.
His refusal to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada”—a chilling slogan calling for violence against Jews worldwide—is especially alarming. Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, herself a leading Democrat and former DNC chair, did not mince words describing Mamdani’s position. Talking to The Hill, she rightly pointed out, “To not be willing to condemn the term ‘globalize the intifada,’ it just demonstrates his callous disregard for antisemitism, terrorist activity.”
Mamdani’s extremism isn’t just a problem for New York City; it’s a clarion call for all Americans who value freedom, democracy, and our alliance with Israel. His victory comes at a moment when antisemitic incidents have surged nationwide, leaving Jewish communities feeling vulnerable and abandoned by so-called progressive leaders unwilling to confront hate within their own ranks.
Members of the US House of Representatives, including former Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, are uneasy about Mamdani’s support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and his refusal to condemn the controversial “globalize the intifada” slogan.
“To not be willing to condemn the term ‘globalize the intifada,’ it just demonstrates his callous disregard for antisemitism, terrorist activity,” Wasserman Schultz, now a Florida congresswoman, told The Hill newspaper.
“Globalize the intifada” is viewed by many critics as a rallying cry to terrorize and kill Jews.
“Anyone that I care about couldn’t possibly distance themselves from him more,” Wasserman Schultz added. “It’s really terribly disturbing and potentially dangerous.”
Even Democrat Rep. Josh Gottheimer openly expressed alarm on CNN, stating, “Someone who refuses to condemn hate speech is not acceptable. Why would he not condemn antisemitic language?” Indeed, why wouldn’t Mamdani condemn language clearly designed to stoke hatred and violence?
President Trump, always recognizing threats to American values when he sees them, has correctly labeled Mamdani a “communist”—a fitting description for a candidate openly embracing Marxist policies and anti-Western ideology. For Republicans gearing up for critical midterm elections, Mamdani serves as a stark reminder of how far the Democratic Party has drifted from mainstream American values.
Yet bafflingly, New York’s own Democratic establishment remains timid and divided. Manhattan Rep. Jerrold Nadler, supposedly a stalwart defender of Jewish interests, endorsed Mamdani. Meanwhile, powerful figures like Chuck Schumer cautiously congratulate Mamdani without actually endorsing him, hedging their bets politically while their constituents look on in disbelief.
As conservatives who cherish America’s founding principles—freedom, security, and unshakeable support for our allies—it’s imperative we shine a relentless spotlight on Mamdani and his extremist agenda. This isn’t simply about one election or one city—it’s about preserving the integrity of our nation from radical ideologies that have no place in American politics.
Mamdani may cloak his radicalism in smooth talk about affordability and social justice, but Americans must see through the facade. Radical socialism and antisemitic rhetoric are incompatible with the values this country was built upon. Mamdani’s victory should be a wake-up call: it’s time to stand firm against radical extremism before it gains an even stronger foothold in America.
