Following the establishment of “Alligator Alcatraz,” the predictable media have rushed to hear the sob stories of those being held at the facility.
NBC Miami published an article detailing the “conditions” of the holding facility from the perspective of the detainees. First up was Leamsy Izquierdo, “a self-described Cuban urban artist” also known as La Figura.
“I haven’t showered for four days, there’s no water, no toothpaste, they don’t let you out for even a minute. We are in a cage of metal bars with the lights on 24 hours a day, and the mosquitoes seem like elephants,” he complained. While the exact number of detainees is unknown, Izquierdo believes there are about 400 people being held at “Alligator Alcatraz.”
A dangerous illegal immigrant is complaining about the living conditions at Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz ICE detention facility, claiming he hasn’t showered in four days, the lights are on 24/7, receives food once a day with worms in it, and the mosquitoes are “the size of… pic.twitter.com/0gXcVKY1lj

“They give you food only once a day, food that even has worms in it,” he further charged.
“Izquierdo’s partner, Katia, says he’s a permanent resident who was arrested last week. He was first taken to Turner Guliford Knight Correctional Center, then to Miramar, and finally to the Everglades facility,” the outlet reported.
“I don’t think it’s humane to have people in those conditions,” she complained.
It may be worth noting that Izquierdo has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery after he allegedly got into a heated altercation with a worker tasked with repossessing a jet ski.
Another detainee, a Colombian national, says he has not been able to take his medicine in three days.
X users weren’t exactly sympathetic to the man’s plight:
Good. So then, maybe you’ll leave?
