A Florida drag queen claimed Tuesday entering the United States without documentation is “not a crime.”
Erika Rose, whose legal name is Michael Travis, made the comment while urging the Key West City Commission not to approve a resolution allowing local police to work with ICE and enforce federal immigration law.
“As a community, and as a culture, ICE doesn’t belong in our streets. It belongs in our cocktails,” Travis said. “The kidnapping and trafficking of our citizens, regardless of their immigration status, without being proven guilty of a crime, is also illegal.”
The commission went on to approve the resolution by a 4-2 vote.
