Germany: Courts OK Anti-Semitic Islamist March, While Police Raid Homes Over ‘Insults’

Following an Islamist march in Berlin that an administrative court allowed to go through at the last moment, Freedom Party of Germany (FDP) deputy federal chairman Wolfgang Kubicki slammed free speech double standards in the country.

He specifically noted that while Jews are threatened at such demonstrations, police raids are being launched against Germans for “hate and incitement” online.

“One and a half weeks after the action day against ‘hate and incitement,’ another Islamist rally took place in Berlin over the weekend, where ‘Death to Jews’ was chanted and the establishment of a caliphate was demanded,” Kubicki, known as a prominent free speech advocate in Germany, wrote on X.

“A state that flexes its muscles over online insults against politicians while being unable or unwilling to counter the growing antisemitism on the streets has lost its bearings. Each of these incidents is, moreover, a glaring signal of a completely failed migration and integration policy. If we continue to shrug off the rise of such totalitarian and inhumane groups, the liberal foundation of our republic will crumble,” he continued.

Kubicki is referring to the “Day of Action,” which saw 170 citizens have their homes raided over “hate speech” comments and “insults” to politicians.

Kubicki has said these house raids represent an extreme state response, and has criticized them in the past as the most brutal intrusion of privacy.

He is now comparing the state response to the raids to Islamic demonstrations in Germany. The Welt article he cited, entitled “Ban overturned on short notice: Islamists demand the establishment of a theocracy at Gaza demonstration,” details the pro-Palestinian march over the weekend.

The article notes that “Berlin police prematurely halted a pro-Palestinian demonstration with around 300 participants on Saturday. 18 people were arrested for insults, chanting banned slogans, and resisting police.”

The article further describes how Berlin police wanted a ban on the Islamist demonstration, but a higher regional court overturned the ban.

Among the demonstrators were supporters of a caliphate. The demonstration itself was separated by gender, and there were calls for the Egyptian government to intervene in Gaza against Israel. Police noted that the demonstration was peaceful.

The demonstration, which saw 1,500 people gather in front of the Egyptian embassy on Saturday, was organized by YouTuber Ahmad Tamim, who is known as an Islamist.

Black-and-white shahada flags were on display, and there were chants of “Death to the Jews” and “Death to the IDF.”

The Jewish Forum in Germany wrote: “Islamist Power Demonstration: Call for the unification of the ‘Ummah’ against Israel, strict gender segregation & caliphate slogans at #b0507 in #Berlin. Ahmad Tamim (“Generation Islam”) mobilized up to 1500 Islamists in front of the Egyptian embassy.”

Tamim regularly reports on the war in Gaza and the suffering of the civilian population. He points to Israel’s role in the conflict, which he says has led to tens of thousands of Gazan civilian deaths.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) lists Tamim as an Islamist actor with the group “Generation Islam,” which is connected to the international organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir,” which seeks to establish a caliphate state.

Hizb ut-Tahrir, is classified as extremist by the German Interior Ministry and is banned in Germany.

During the demonstration, he called for “intervention by regional forces in Gaza.” He appealed to the “honor” and “manhood” of Muslims, saying: “Aren’t you ashamed? Are there no men left.” Specifically, he believes Egypt and other Muslim nations should intervene on behalf of Gaza.

Kubicki was not the only one criticizing the march.

“Once again, Islamists are marching through the streets of Berlin – under the protection of the democracy they deeply despise,” wrote Islam critic Ahmad Mansour on X. “They call for the caliphate, dream of a theocracy – of a political Islam that the majority of Muslims want neither here nor in the Middle East.”

In previous incidents, Tamim has made questionable remarks at Alexanderplatz, saying: “Ya Allah, destroy every unjust person, wherever they may be in this world, who stands by Israel.”
