Making Physicians Care Again

When we make physicians care again, we will make medicine great again.  You can “take that fact to the bank.” Do you want great medicine? Let us explore how to achieve that goal.

The spirits and energy of doctors have become listless, sickly, and gloomy, and burnout is the reason. They perform based on feelings (e.g. fear, anger, low self-esteem, victimhood, spite, resentment, wokeness, self-pity, and envy) and not based on trust and faith in their patients, which was traditionally the case in American medicine and surgery in the not-too-distant past. And a doctor who does not trust patients anymore clearly does not care about patients anymore.  

That means physicians no longer obey their sworn obligations and responsibilities listed in the Hippocratic Oath, namely honoring the profession, teaching fellow physicians and their patients (informed consent), recognizing their limitations, doing no harm, being available, and keeping yours and my medical records and financial status private and not accessible to the government. I hope you recognize this behavior is insanely dangerous to your physical health and financial well-being! 

On the contrary, doctors obey the duties dictated by the tyrants in a government owned and operated healthcare system, also known as Marxist or communist healthcare. Karl Marx wrote that communists are dead men on furlough, i.e., they treat themselves as though they are as good as dead. Expand this statement to …”A communist doctor is a dead man on furlough.” A negative interpretation of this statement is saying that a communist doctor is “as good as dead” or that their ideology is ultimately destined for failure. Thus, communist doctors could care less about you. They pay full attention to their paycheck and following orders.  Morality is not on the table. Communist doctors do not care!

Physician burnout is a “dis-ease,” an un-peaceful  mindset which requires a choice.  And doctors continue to make that choice based on how they are treated by their patients and society. We the people of California and the rest of the nation ALL have culpability in this dilemma, and it is now time we recognize that fact and get involved. The great news is that you and I can profoundly and astonishingly heal our doctors by the way we treat them. We can develop discernment, become friendly, and apply some very common-sense techniques to get on the same page and provide a great and caring medical system, better than ever before.

You and I and every other patient and doctor in the USA have been fleeced by our oppressive, control addicted government and monopoly (health insurance companies, medical academia, pharma, non-for-profit public-benefit corporations, non-governmental organizations, mainstream media, advertisers, etc.) and tragically ripped off and emotionally and physically thumped! Many have died. I refer you to Covid to reflect on these facts. We were conned into an almost stuporous, sheep-like, self-piteous, God forgetting, God rejecting, and blinding fog.  We continue to live in a state of denial and continue to put up with it. We have lost our way and lost control of our medical system, and it is now necessary to regain that control, and tweak the system such that it will be better than ever before and not subject to attack by the forces of the evil tyrannical monsters listed above again. 

Doctors in the past were holistic clinicians, meaning that they cared about the whole patient, not just the various systems of their patients. Although primary care physicians, the so called “captain of the ship,” were responsible for the overall patient’s care, we have had very dedicated specialists for many, many years, responsible for particular body systems. For example, a dermatologist treats only skin diseases, orthopedic surgeons treat only bones, ligaments, and joints, and cardiologists deal only with the heart. These types of doctors “defer” the rest of the patient care to the primary doctor who they trust to have all the other body systems in good condition. Traditionally, all doctors were highly concerned with the whole patient and each other’s success and well-being. Now none are! The question is why?

In  the last half of the 20th century until today, our corrupt and now communist government has pitched to voters repeatedly (to the point that it is now accepted as truth), that doctors and hospitals have steadily price gouged and price fixed the public, with inflation in that sector of the industrial capacity or GDP of America as spiraling out of control relative to the rest of American industry. They have taken upon themselves an oversight role and have regulated and abused the medical profession into bankruptcy and apathy to correct and control that alleged cause of inflation, itself a false accusation. The government lied to us and brutally exploited the medical industry and destroyed the economy by stealing all the money needed to operate the business of healing. This is massive, crooked, cruel manipulation. Call it for what it is, namely fever pitch hypocrisy.  

Our response to that swindling pitch? We voted for more government. The government has progressively doubled down and expanded the entitlement state and stopped paying your doctors! What really happened is that the government has wasted and squandered taxpayer dollars, abused the people who they taxed and the doctors they were supposed to pay, and disgracefully defrauded both doctors and patients. The motive? Power. And power is very, very expensive, at our cost! The result? Doctors and patients no longer trust each other, but simply isolate, shelter in place, cower, and rely on a tyrannical abuser, in complete submissive dependency. In a word, we have become losers.  

Medi-Cal reimbursement, Medicare reimbursement, Obamacare reimbursement, Newsomcare reimbursement, is not adequate to sustain caring physicians. My statement to you is that this is exactly the reason I quit my practice of general surgery in Sacramento seven years before I wanted to quit. Said another way, this runaway government swindled the money you paid for health insurance and abused your doctors into apathy and immorality and at the same time robbed you of all high-quality diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Please recognize that I am not blaming doctors and patients for anything except that we were double-crossed by a communist government most of us incorrectly voted into power. And they are lazy, incompetent, swindling fools. It is time to wake up. 

As a healed and economically stable, retired volunteer service  physician, very interested in the future of the medical profession, I am proof positive that caring for patients requires payment for services. And I am attempting to teach you that if you trust me and bypass the thieving and killing government and pay my colleagues what they are worth directly, without the bureaucratic, destructive effects of over taxation, overregulation, and the engineering and enforcing of the entitlement state, we will gladly care for you again. It’s as simple as the Golden Rule. In Matthew 7:12 Jesus said…”So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” It is simple common-sense economics, friends. Pay me what I am worth, a process worked out between you and I, and I will take care of you the way you must be taken care of to effectively heal! We must trust each other again. My colleagues will do the same. All you must do is reach out to your doctors, set up the deal and give it a shot! Your doctors are very lonely in their state of spiritual poverty now, and hopeless. They are hungry and thirsty.  They need charged up and restored spirits and energy and awakening. They need your love! 

We doctors will completely change our thinking and aggressively overhaul the landscape of medical education just like our military has recently changed the landscape of soldier education and completely purged DEI from that industry. Look at what is happening in our major universities, when purging male athletes from female athletic competition. What would it be like to have doctors anxious to kill the diseases that grip you into suffering instead of trying to figure out how to survive economically? Those are the kind of doctors you want, right?  

Unavailability is the by-product of non-payment for services rendered. If you do not get paid properly for services rendered, you will not care, you will become indifferent to morality and you will not do any work except that which the tyrant instructs you to do. Doctors are defeated and they will either continue working for the communists, or you can and must free them from that bondage. That’s the only option, friends. Doctors do not have the financial power to quit their jobs because just like you they have the financial obligations of life, so they must keep working for the crooks. Your job is to invest in them right now and pay them directly.  You will be amazed at what you will reap.  

When I attempt to explain these facts to the undiscerning entitled people who do not have a clue as to their culpability in these circumstances and how dire these circumstances really are, they generally respond with… “Gee doctor, that is certainly sad, and I am sorry you had to go through all of that.” Yet they fail to recognize that by voting for and trusting a more crooked government and entitlements, they are establishing their peril.  If you allow the government to take care of your health, they will take care of it all right, until they squeeze every bit of life and every penny right out of you.Look around.The people who trust our communist government are playing a zero-sum game, and they are the losers.

It reminds me of an amazing statement Ronald Reagan made in 1961 about communist medicine. He said that one of the traditional methods of imposing statism on a people is by way of medicine. He was right.

Abraham Lincoln said … “The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly.” The pinnacle of government run healthcare is defined by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or PPACA, or Obamacare. This law encompasses all medical insurance today. The government owns all health insurance which is 18% of the means of production in America.  That is communism. It is a very bad law as you can see from the economic turmoil , social evils, major unsafe delays in medical service, and bickering we see in America today.

Healthcare insurance isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, and thus the quality of medical care you are receiving is exactly what the physicians are being paid for their services. Healthcare and healthcare insurance is dead. Doctors are dead. Citizens are dead. Communism is dead.  

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Don’t you think it’s time to get together, both doctors and patients, and strike up a deal in which we can build mutual trust and goodwill and put the jack in the box back in the box?  It sure appears that our beloved President Trump is making America great again, so let’s help him out by making physicians care again!  Let’s repeal Obamacare, which is communist medicine, and replace it with free enterprise medicine, which is pure living at its best capitalism!  We’ve got to face it friends.  Entitlements decrease the workforce, and that weakens our Constitutional Republic, called the USA.  Our rights of freedom of choice of our doctors and patients have been sadistically violated, and we must take back those rights!  Everybody has got to carry their own freight for our medical system and our country to be great.   Let’s stop being stingy and selfish and start caring about each other.  And let us make American medicine and surgery affordable, comforting, competent, caring, and safe again.

President Trump and his administration and our US Congress are on our team now and have “teed up the ball”.  Why don’t we allow them to broker the doctor-patient deal I propose here.  They are very good at the negotiation process as we are finding out day by day!  They are encouraging us to drive that ball hard and accurately and hit the target, making physicians care again, even right here in beautiful California.  Especially right here in beautiful California!
