Democrat rep admits illegal immigrants do get Medicaid

A Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives just admitted that some illegal immigrants have, in fact, been getting Medicaid benefits. 

Breitbart News reports that U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) made the admission during a recent appearance on NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”

This, of course, is a serious admission against interest, which is why Khanna tried to spin the situation.

This comes amid the passage of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” which looks to put a stop to Medicaid waste and fraud.

He admitted it!

Appearing alongside Khanna was U.S. Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL).

Fine noted, “The bill cuts Medicaid…for illegal immigrants. Now, if they want to say illegal immigrants should get Medicaid, they should just make that argument.”

At this point, host Chris Cuomo felt the need to cut in to repeat the Democrats’ talking point that illegal immigrants “don’t get federal money.” Fine, however, quickly cut him off, saying, “They do. 1.4 — that same analysis you referenced said 1.4 million illegal immigrants get Medicaid.”

It was here that, to the surprise of many, Khanna actually admitted that Fine and Republicans are right.

He said:

What we’re talking about is an undocumented person shows up in an emergency room in a hospital. The state takes care of it. Now you actually, in the bill, don’t cut it. What you take is the reimbursement goes down from 90% to 50%. I believe most people in this country believe that if someone shows up having a heart attack, the doctor should treat them. And if you believe that, your bill basically puts the burden all on the states, and it’s still funding it, you don’t zero it out.

Is it a problem?

Democrats have been insisting for years that illegal immigrants do not get Medicaid coverage.

They particularly like to repeat the claim that illegal immigrants are “not eligible” for Medicaid benefits. This, however, is a different point from whether illegal immigrants get it nonetheless.

Newsnation reports:

The nearly 1,000-page megabill outlines the removal of “at least 1.4 million” immigrants who are in the United States unlawfully from Medicaid, the administration said. According to the White House, doing so would strengthen Medicaid for “the American citizens for whom the program was designed — pregnant women, children, people with disabilities, low-income seniors, and other vulnerable low-income families.”

The bill, of course, does not protect Medicaid for those ineligible.

This would appear to include those illegal immigrants in 14 U.S. states that have been given health care.
