Chilling new details have emerged following a mass shooting that left eight people injured at a Fourth of July celebration in Philadelphia.
The incident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday at the 7 Elements bar, located at 11th Street and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police responded after reports of multiple victims being shot at the bar.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of any suspects, and it remains unclear whether there was more than one shooter involved in the incident.
According to police, the shooting broke out after a physical altercation took place on the bar’s balcony. Multiple individuals suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to various hospitals for treatment.
A police spokesperson told Daily Mail that all victims are currently in stable condition. The injured ranged in age from 25 to 43 years old, with most sustaining wounds to their arms and legs.
Among the wounded were two security guards, both 43 years old. One suffered a gunshot wound to the groin, while the other was hit in the left arm.
One female victim, aged 28, was injured in the left knee and arrived at the hospital on her own.
The eight victims are receiving care at four different local hospitals, the Daily Mail reported.
The 7 Elements bar is situated on the second floor of a shopping center. Police closed off the plaza on Saturday morning to conduct a thorough search for evidence related to the shooting.
Investigators found bullet casings on the bar’s upper floor, as well as on the staircase leading down to the lower level and parking area.
Earlier reports had stated that 11 people were wounded, but police later revised the number down to eight.
The bar’s website indicates it operates from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday. The establishment was already closed by the time law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Officers had to force open the doors to ensure no other victims remained inside. Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace commented that the business should not be open that late.
At a press conference, Inspector Pace said, “They look like they’re going to survive. It’s a lot of people,” referring to the injured victims.
Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting or provide details about the events leading up to the attack. No arrests have been made at this time.
The identities of the victims have not been released. It is also not clear if multiple shooters were involved in the incident.
This shooting marks the largest mass shooting in Philadelphia since Memorial Day, when two people were killed and nine others injured during an event in Fairmount Park.
The Memorial Day shooting involved rapid gunfire on Lemon Hill Drive, where thousands had gathered to celebrate the holiday weekend.
That incident resulted in 11 people being shot, ages ranging from 15 to 28 years old, including two victims who were killed: 23-year-old Amya Devlin and 21-year-old Mikhail Bowers.
Among the injured were three teenagers, ages 15, 16, and 17. Police believe at least five guns were discharged during the Memorial Day shooting.
