President Donald Trump is seeing a sharp decline in approval ratings among Generation Z, according to multiple new polls released this week.
A YouGov/Yahoo survey revealed that Trump’s net approval among Gen Z voters dropped significantly from -23 in May to -41 in June, with only 27 percent approving of his job performance.
A separate poll conducted by Quantus found that his approval with young voters fell from 46 percent in June to 35 percent in early July. An ActiVote poll also showed Gen Z disapproval rising to 62 percent.
The polling reversal comes just months after Trump made notable gains with younger voters in the 2024 presidential election, where he lost the 18–29 age group to Kamala Harris by only four points.
Analysts attribute the sudden decline to dissatisfaction with the President’s handling of major issues, including the economy, inflation, and immigration.
On inflation specifically, YouGov/Economist polling shows his approval among Gen Z dropped from 32 percent in May to 23 percent in June, as the Daily Mail reported.
Much of Trump’s earlier success with younger voters was credited to outreach efforts led by his son, Barron Trump, who served as a generational liaison during the 2024 campaign.
Barron helped secure media appearances for his father on youth-driven platforms, including a podcast hosted by comedian Theo Von and a livestream interview with Kick streamer Adin Ross, which reportedly garnered 100 million total views.
Working with conservative activist Bo Loudon, Barron also encouraged the President to connect with popular online figures such as YouTuber Jake Paul and PBD Podcast host Patrick Bet-David.
That strategy initially helped close the gap with younger voters, but recent polling suggests that momentum may be fading.
Meanwhile, national polling shows President Trump’s overall approval rating has held steady at 47 percent despite recent U.S. military action in the Middle East.
A Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll showed his rating unchanged from early June through late June, even after the U.S. launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites during the brief “12 Day War.”
Trump’s disapproval rating remained consistent as well, at 53 percent over the same period.
About one-third of voters said their view of the President had worsened recently, citing concerns about escalating conflict with Iran, bypassing congressional approval, and what they described as ego-driven decisions.
However, 30 percent of respondents said their opinion of the President had improved due to his decisiveness, strength, and willingness to act on U.S. interests abroad.
At the same time, Trump’s major legislative package—the “Big Beautiful Bill”—is receiving mixed reviews from the public as it heads to his desk after passing Congress.
The bill includes provisions such as $1,000 “Trump Accounts” for newborns, elimination of taxes on tips and overtime, funding for the border wall, and bans on state AI regulation. It also adds new work requirements for welfare programs.
While Trump and Republican leaders have hailed it as a historic tax cut, a Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll found only 28 percent support the bill, while 36 percent oppose it, giving it a net approval of -8.
Independents opposed the measure by 14 points, and Democrats by 41. Only Republican voters showed strong support, backing the bill by a margin of +36.
