Vice President J.D. Vance on Thursday celebrated the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, asserting that it secured the necessary resources for the administration to follow through on its campaign pledges and that senior Trump officials were preparing to do exactly that.
“Congrats to everyone. At times I even doubted we’d get it done by July 4!
But now we’ve delivered big tax cuts and the resources necessary to secure the border.
Promises made, promises kept!” he posted on X.
The bill narrowly passed the chamber with 218 Republicans voting in favor and all Democrats opposing the bill. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Thomas Massie, R-Ky., both voted against the plan.
The House vote followed the chamber’s earlier passage of the legislation, after which the Senate approved an altered version that required the lower chamber’s approval before sending it to President Donald Trump’s desk.
The legislation includes a wide array of provisions, including the extension of the 2017 tax cuts, funding for ICE and border security, suspending taxation on some forms of compensation, and many more.
