The hero dad who jumped off a Disney cruise ship to save his daughter is vindicated after rumors quickly circulated that he had put his daughter in danger.
Shortly after news broke that a father had immediately jumped into the ocean after his 5-year-old girl had fallen off the Disney Dream ship, video of the scene took over social media. While many celebrated the selflessness and bravery of the dad who didn’t think twice about saving his daughter, others circulated a rumor that he had put her on the railing of the ship before she fell off.

Eyewitnesses and security footage, however, tell a different story.
Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony confirmed that the little girl was sitting on the railing before falling off, but squashed rumors that her father put her there.
“After the girl’s mother alerted her husband, who didn’t see the incident, he jumped into the ocean to save his daughter,” he said.
The father reportedly held on to his daughter and treaded water for 20 minutes until the ship’s rescue team could get to them.
Sheriff Tony said the ship’s security footage confirmed what witnesses and family said about the father not putting his daughter in danger, according to the Daily Mail. He also praised the ship’s rescue team for its quick action.
The weight of being a father we don’t talk about a lot is you literally have to be ready to die to save your children at any given second.
Thank God for strong fathers.

“The crew’s ‘man overboard’ training and readiness paid off because they executed a successful ocean rescue,” Sheriff Tony said.
“BSO investigators said the total time from the child’s accidental fall to the rescue was about 20 minutes. Once rescued, the father and daughter were checked out by the ship’s medical staff.”
“This family is so blessed. It’s great to be able to respond to good news rather than what could have been a tragic outcome,” he said.
The father reportedly suffered injuries from the fall, but no further details have been released as an investigation into the incident continues.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office released the current statement in an attempt to stop misinformation from spreading online, the DM reported.
