Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Republicans, especially under Trump, do a thing, and Democrats claim people are literally going to die literally because of that thing. The sky is falling. Cats and dogs are playing together. It is, once again, over for Trump. Such was the case on CNN after the Senate passed the Big, Beautiful Bill, and longtime Democrat hack Paul Begala was being Paul Begala until he got shut down by Scott Jennings.
Don’t get me wrong. Scott Jennings is still CANCELLED.
It’s deja vu all over again. Democrats lie about something Trump and the GOP has done. The media amplifies those lies. Eventually, polls come out where the people who answered their phones answer questions based on the lies that the media amplified, which causes both Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) to amplify more lies. Then Americans learn the truth once they see the results of what Trump and the GOP have done, and the media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) move on to something else. See: Tax Cuts, The 2017.
Such is the case with Medicaid cuts. Blah, blah, blah — Donald Trump is stabbing his blue-collar base in the back to give tax cuts to billionaires — yackity schmackity. Except, as Jennings points out, it’s not Republican voters who are having their Medicaid cut. It’s Democrat voters, because they are the ones who are single, able-bodied adults who refuse to work and/or unauthorized illegals.
Then comes the sweet irony. The idea of “work requirements” to get Medicaid came from former President Bill Clinton, who is a) a Democrat, and b) the only reason we know what a Paul Begala is.
As for the Big, Beautiful Bill, it is theoretically scheduled to go to the floor of the House today. I say “theoretically” because the Senate made a lot of changes that the House GOP isn’t thrilled with.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not thrilled some of them either. There needs to be a rule passed that requires Senators to put their name on any changes they make, so that we know who is selling us out. But when faced with a binary choice of “Yay” or “Nay,” I think I lean towards Jennings, who is sounding an awful lot like a US Senate candidate lately…
At the end of the day, I think Trump will get to sign his big, beautiful bill on July 4th. Then the polls I mentioned will be released, followed by media coverage. Then people will feel the real results of the actual bill, and those polls will go in the other direction. Then Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) will have to find a third reason to impeach Trump because they will have run out of ideas.
