Two firefighters tragically lost their lives while responding to a wildfire in northern Idaho. Authorities say the fire may have been intentionally set to lure first responders into an ambush. A third firefighter is recovering after surgery.
Law enforcement came under unexpected gunfire shortly after arriving at the scene. The suspect was later found deceased nearby.
Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris called it a “total ambush” and praised the bravery of all first responders involved.
