Eric Trump just said that it would be “easy” for his family to create a political dynasty.
Eric, the third child of President Donald Trump, made the comment, according to the Daily Mail, during a recent interview with the Financial Times.
In many ways the remark is not that surprising, considering that many members of Trump’s family are already significantly involved in politics.
But, before we get to that, let’s take a look at exactly what Eric Trump had to say.
“Would be easy”
During the interview, Eric Trump was asked whether he or other members of his family would consider running for political office in future elections. His response was, “who knows?”
The Financial Times writes, “Asked whether 2024 will be the last election with a Trump on the ballot, he said: ‘I don’t know . . . Time will tell. But there’s more people than just me.'”
This, however, is a different question from whether it will actually happen and whether members of the Trump family actually want it to happen.
Eric highlighted this fact, added, “The question is, do you want to do it? And do you want to subject the people that you love to the brutality of this system? And I’m not sure if I can answer that question yet.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Eric Trump pushed back against the notion that his father and other members of his family are profiting off of politics. “If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family,” he said.
Who could it be?
As mentioned earlier, we have already seen multiple members of Trump’s family in politics.
The Daily Mail notes:
In Trump’s first term, his daughter Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner held senior administration posts, though they have retreated from the political frontlines for now. Donald Trump Jr., 47, has been at the forefront of his father’s political operation for many years with conservative candidates coveting his endorsements. Eric’s wife Lara Trump co-led the national Republican Party during the last election campaign receiving lavish praise from the candidate, and she now has her own show on Fox News.
And, let’s not forget about Barron Trump, the son of the president and the first lady.
Multiple reports have indicated that Barron is very interested in politics and perhaps in following in his father’s footsteps. He is also said to have played a role in his father’s 2024 election.
All things considered, it would not be that surprising if Donald Trump is not the last Trump to hold political office.
