A new report is claiming that New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) actually hired an individual as a campaign consultant who had previously been accused of strangling a woman.
The report comes from The Gothamist.
The alleged strangler has been identified as Trent Pool. Reportedly, Pool is no longer working for Adams.

The details:
The alleged strangling incident happened in 2024.
The Gothamist reports:
When Adams first began paying Pool’s firm, the consultant was already fighting charges tied to the alleged April. 27, 2024 incident. Pool was charged with strangling and assaulting his girlfriend at the SoHo Grand Hotel. Prosecutors allege he “hit her in the face with a closed fist twice, causing her to cry… covered her nose and mouth, until she was going in and out of consciousness” and strangled her. Pool has pleaded not guilty.
The outlet goes on to report that Adams has been paying Pool since April for campaign-related work.
It writes:
City campaign finance disclosures show Adams paid Pool’s Wyoming-based firm Public Appeal $175,000 since April to help gather petitions that would allow him to be on the ballot this November under an independent party line.
Now, however, it would appear that the relationship between Adams and Pool has been terminated.
He didn’t know?
Adams himself has yet to publicly respond to the report, but a spokesperson for him has.
Campaign spokesperson Jeff Cohen said:
Mayor Adams has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to allegations of any assault charges. The campaign immediately terminated all work with Trent Pool upon learning of any charges against him.
This all comes as Adams is campaigning to be reelected as the mayor of New York City. Last week, he skipped the city’s Democratic primary, which was won by far-left candidate Zohran Mamdani, who defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The big question here is whether Adams remains a viable candidate in New York City, considering the various scandals that he’s been at the center of in recent years. It is surprising to many that, despite the corruption allegations, Adams is not only still the mayor of New York City, but he is also running for reelection.
At the moment, polling would suggest that Mamdani has some serious support. Members of both political parties, however, are sounding the alarm on Mamdani, considering just how far to the left he is.
