There are a bunch of fires popping up all over the west this weekend. Especially in Idaho and California…. Sadly, in Idaho, two firefighters, who were called out to fight a brush fire in Coeur d’Alene were shot and killed by a sniper, or maybe multiple snipers. Who in the hell would shoot a fireman fighting fires?
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reported two deaths, with the number of injuries unknown, and described it as an active shooter situation. Authorities suspect the fire may have been intentionally set to lure first responders. A shelter-in-place order was issued, and the FBI is assisting in the ongoing search for the suspect, complicated by the mountainous terrain. Idaho Governor Brad Little condemned the attack as a “heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters.”
