Earlier this week, Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) refused to condemn the Islamic regime’s Iranian flag flown by anti-Trump protesters outside the White House. The Palestine Youth Movement (PYM) organized the protest, maintaining direct ties to Tlaib and indirect links to Ocasio-Cortez through her support for New York Assemblymember, and Democrat NYC Mayoral Nominee, Zohran Mamdani’s pro-BDS legislation—legislation that PYM strongly supports.

Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib Dodge Iranian Flag Questions
However, when confronted by Loomer Unleashed on Capitol Hill, Ocasio-Cortez deflected when asked about the Iranian flag being flown outside the White House during the anti-Trump protest. Likewise, Tlaib avoided directly answering questions about PYM’s involvement, instead offering commentary on the weather.
Tlaib’s Ongoing Alliance With Jihadist Organizations
Tlaib’s silence is consistent with her long-standing support for Islamic political causes. In 2024, she spoke at PYM’s “People’s Conference for Palestine.” PYM is funded by the Westchester People’s Action Coalition (WESPAC). WESPAC is a radical group that also supports Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). According to a report submitted to the U.S. Congressional Record by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism, SJP maintains “direct connections to the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood.” Moreover, multiple lawmakers have proposed designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
The Soros Connection: Follow the Money
WESPAC receives grants from the Tides Foundation, a key financial arm of left-wing billionaire George Soros. Between 2016 and 2022, Soros’s Open Society Foundations donated $13.7 million to Tides, with $132,000 of that directed to WESPAC, according to the National Legal and Policy Center.

AOC’s Endorsement of Mamdani’s Jihadist Agenda
Ocasio-Cortez’s silence over the Iranian flag protest is also noteworthy in light of her endorsement of Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist candidate for New York City mayor. Mamdani introduced the “Not On Our Dime! Act” in 2023. The legislation sought to block New York charities from funding Israeli settlements. Specifically, both PYM and far-left legal groups actively champion this effort. As The New York Times reported, AOC has publicly backed this bill to “limit donations to Israeli settlements.”
After the bill’s introduction, PYM’s Kaleem Hawa stated to the Center for Constitutional Rights, “The funneling of millions of dollars to settlements from New York-registered charities amounts to a subsidy of Palestinian dispossession by American citizens. It’s time we stop New York’s funding of Zionist settler terror.”
Democrats’ Silence on Iranian Flag Signals Troubling Shift
The refusal of Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib to address the Iranian flag being displayed at a protest targeting President Trump reflects a deeper concern about the Democrat Party’s ideological trajectory. Their direct and indirect ties to radical, anti-American groups like PYM raises serious national security questions and should shake public confidence in the Democrat Party’s ability to protect the American people from threats both foreign and domestic.
