HOUSTON, TX – A routine trip to an ATM turned into a harrowing ordeal for a man in Southeast Houston, leading to a police chase and a dramatic crash. The incident unfolded late last night and ended with a stolen truck colliding with an SUV at the intersection of Telephone Road and Dixie Drive.
According to authorities, the chaos began around midnight when the victim withdrew cash from an ATM near Broadway. Unbeknownst to him, a suspect climbed into the bed of his truck. The man drove home, unaware of the danger lurking just a few feet away.
Once the victim parked, the suspect revealed himself, brandishing a gun and demanding money, the victim’s phone, and his keys. When the victim hesitated, the assailant forced him into the truck at gunpoint and drove off, eventually letting him out about half a mile later.
Police quickly spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the suspect sped away, leading officers on a brief but intense chase. The pursuit ended violently when the truck veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into an SUV near the utility pole where the chase concluded.
The aftermath was chaotic, with the white truck’s front tire nearly torn off. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported. The individuals in the SUV, the suspect, and the original victim were all transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Authorities have since cleared the scene, and charges against the suspect are pending. The victim, unharmed, was safely taken home after the incident.
