After Vance Boelter — the man accused of assassinating Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, while also attempting to kill Sen. John Hoffman, his wife, Yvette, and daughter, Hope — complained of “horrible” conditions where he’s being held at the Sherburne County Jail, the county sheriff responded with fury.
“He is not in a hotel. He’s in jail, where a person belongs when they commit the heinous crimes he is accused of committing,” Sheriff Joel Brott said.
Brott expressed disgust that Boelter complained of unsatisfactory jail conditions on the day that the Hortmans lied in state at the Minnesota Capitol, where former President Joe Biden was among thousands who paid their respects to the victims of Boelter’s alleged June 14 attacks.
Brott said it’s “offensive and disgusting that the man accused of assassinating them stood before a federal judge and painted himself the victim.”
