Anthony Bernal refuses to testify before House Oversight Committee

As House Republicans dial in on the origins of how former President Joe Biden’s autopen was really used behind the scenes as the former president was rapidly declining both cognitively and physically, some people in that world are running scared.

According to Fox News, a man being called former First Lady Jill Biden’s “work husband,” who was definitely in the closest Biden orbit at the time, is refusing to appear for testimony before a House Oversight Committee hearing.

Anthony Bernal, a former adviser to the former first lady, has flat-out refused to show up for testimony as House Republicans investigate Joe Biden’s liberal use of the autopen and his overall decline.

The former president was noticeably different over the course of his last year in office, and many have accused Democrats and their media allies of partaking in a major cover-up to downplay his condition.

What’s happening?

Oversight Chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, released a statement after Bernal refused to testify before his committee on Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and usage of the autopen.

“Now that the White House has waived executive privilege, it’s abundantly clear that Anthony Bernal – Jill Biden’s so-called ‘work husband’ – never intended to be transparent about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and the ensuing cover-up,” Comer said.

He added, “With no privilege left to hide behind, Mr. Bernal is now running scared, desperate to bury the truth. The American people deserve answers and accountability, and the Oversight Committee will not tolerate this obstruction.”

Comer also threatened to use subpoena powers to get him to testify, which he ultimately issued.

Fox News noted:

Letters obtained by Fox News Digital from a source familiar with the matter show the Trump administration will not allow the people of interest in Comer’s probe to use their past White House work as a legal shield.

Users across social media had plenty to say regarding Bernal’s potential eventual testimony.

“Watch it will be, ‘I don’t recall.’ Repeated 1,000 times,” one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, “Let’s see if he’ll go to jail like Bannon did.”

Both are excellent and valid comments. Only time will tell how the testimony winds up.
