A tragic aviation accident off the coast of Sunset Cliffs, California has claimed the lives of six people, including four members of a single Arizona family, according to a verified GoFundMe fundraising campaign launched to support the grieving survivors.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, shortly after the twin-engine Cessna 414 departed from San Diego International Airport. The pilot had radioed that he was struggling to gain altitude. Despite attempts by air traffic controllers to redirect the aircraft to Naval Air Station North Island, just a mile away, the plane plunged into the Pacific Ocean.
A Family Devastated: Jeremy Bingham and His Three Sons
The victims now identified through the GoFundMe page include:
- Jeremy Bingham, a respected husband and father
- His adult sons: Bailey, Gavin, and Ayden Bingham
They were among the six people on board the Cessna aircraft. The remaining victims were the pilot and his pregnant wife, whose names have not yet been released to the public.
“These four incredible men were taken far too soon,” wrote organizer Hope Lofgreen, a family friend from Thatcher, Arizona.
“Their absence leaves a void that words cannot describe.”
A Community in Mourning
The verified GoFundMe campaign paints a picture of a deeply loved family:
- Jeremy Bingham is survived by his wife and daughter. Described as a “pillar of strength,” Jeremy was selfless, hardworking, and a man who would “drop everything to help someone in need.”
- Bailey Bingham, a new father to a 9-month-old son, was looking forward to his first Father’s Day. He was remembered as a man with a calm, patient soul, whose heart was always with his family.
- Gavin Bingham was known for his independence and quiet strength, with an ability to make everyone feel loved and seen.
- Ayden Bingham, who was engaged to be married, was celebrated as the “life of the party,” a person whose energy and laughter lit up every room.
