After kicking a CBP beagle named Freddie so hard the dog went airborne—all because the canine sniffed out over 100 pounds of smuggled food in his luggage—Marie was arrested, convicted, and deported in a matter of days.

Christine Waugh, CBP’s Area Port Director for Washington, D.C., delivered a scathing rebuke to Marie and anyone else who thinks they can disrespect U.S. law enforcement: “Being caught deliberately smuggling well over one hundred pounds of undeclared and prohibited agriculture products does not give one permission to violently assault a defenseless Customs and Border Protection beagle. We rely heavily on our K9 partners, and Freddie was just doing his job. Any malicious attack on one of us is an attack on all of us, and CBP will continue to work with our investigating and prosecuting partners to deal swift and severe justice to perpetrators.”

Freddie, a five-year-old beagle, was simply doing his duty when he alerted handlers to Marie’s suitcase, which was stuffed with 55 pounds of beef, 44 pounds of rice, 15 pounds of vegetables, and other prohibited items. Instead of complying, Marie lashed out like a coward, kicking Freddie hard enough to bruise the dog’s ribs. Thankfully, CBP officers swiftly subdued him, proving once again that under Trump’s policies, attacks on law enforcement—whether human or K9—will not be tolerated.

Where’s the outrage from CNN or The New York Times? If this had been a Border Patrol agent detaining an illegal immigrant, the left would be screaming about “human rights abuses.” But when a foreign national brutally assaults a hardworking K9 officer, the media is suspiciously quiet. It’s just another example of their hypocrisy—they’ll demonize ICE and CBP at every turn but stay silent when those same officers are victimized.
