President Donald Trump reacted with compassion when a Ukrainian journalist asked him a question during a press conference.
The moment was captured by cameras on Wednesday as the president spoke with reporters at the end of the NATO Summit in The Hague. The heartwarming exchange happened as Trump expressed his thoughts when BBC Ukraine reporter Myroslava Petsa explained that her husband is a soldier in her country’s ongoing war with Russia.

“Where are you from?” Trump asked after pointing to the reporter who appeared “all excited.”
“I’m from Ukraine,” she replied before asking him about “whether or not the US is ready to sell anti-air missile systems to Ukraine.”
“We know that Russia has been pounding Ukraine really heavily right now,” she told the president.
“Are you living yourself now in Ukraine?” Trump asked.
“My husband is there,” she replied, adding, “And me with the kids, I’m in Warsaw [Poland], actually. Because he wanted me to.”
The president noted her emotion and asked, “Is your husband a soldier?”
“He is,” she affirmed, prompting Trump to ask, “He’s there now?”
When she confirmed that her husband was serving in their home country, the president responded, “Wow, that’s rough stuff, right? That’s tough.”
“And you’re living here?” Trump asked, as Petsa noted, “in Warsaw,” before he confirmed that the wife and mother is also working as a reporter.
“Let me just tell you, they do want to have the anti-missile missiles, as they call them, the Patriots. And we’re going to see if we can make some available,” he told her.
“You know, they’re very hard to get. We need them too,” Trump said. “We were supplying them to Israel, and they’re very effective. 100% effective. Hard to believe how effective. And they do want that more than any other thing, as you probably know.”
The president continued his heartfelt exchange with Petsa.
“That’s a very good question. And I wish you a lot of luck. I mean, I can see that it’s very upsetting to you,” he said.
“Say hello to your husband, OK? Thank you,” he added.
Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy while at the NATO summit, saying the war “has also highlighted the urgency of rebuilding our defense industrial base, both in the United States and among the allied nations.”
