Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan ‘Razin’ Caine will give remarks early Thursday on the U.S. strikes in Iran and to push back on reporting contradicting President Trump’s rhetoric that the attacks “totally obliterated” Tehran’s nuclear facilities.
The press briefing comes days after multiple outlets reported that the strikes only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months, rather than a few years. Hegseth and President Trump have blasted the media for its coverage in recent days and vowed to investigate the leak of what they argue is a preliminary assessment.
In a Truth Social post announcing the briefing, Trump said the military leaders will “fight for the Dignity of our Great American Pilots” and their comments “will prove both interesting and irrefutable.”
Hegseth, CIA director John Ratcliffe and other administration officials are also expected to hold a classified briefing with senators on Thursday.
