Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson delivered a scathing critique of his former colleague Jennifer Griffin during a recent episode of his independent show, escalating tensions within conservative media circles.
Carlson accused Griffin, Fox News’ chief national security correspondent, of serving as a conduit for intelligence community narratives that undermine President Donald Trump’s foreign policy achievements.
The attack came as Trump celebrated what Carlson described as “the biggest foreign affairs success of his second administration” – a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.
Speaking to former Fox host Clayton Morris on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” Carlson unleashed his most pointed criticism yet of Griffin’s reporting methods and political leanings.
“Jennifer Griffin is, even by the standards of Pentagon employees, she’s not technically an employee of the Pentagon. She’s a shill, obviously, for the deepest of the deep states. But she’s like a parody. She’s like parody. It’s like the whole thing,” Carlson stated during the broadcast.
Morris supported Carlson’s assessment, with both men agreeing that Griffin operates as an unofficial spokesperson for Pentagon interests rather than an independent journalist.
Carlson expanded his criticism beyond Griffin’s professional conduct, characterizing her as ideologically opposed to the Trump administration and its supporters.
“The crazy thing is Jen Griffin is a liar, but also very liberal, true Trump hater, to the point where I complained about her and I really tried not to complain about other people at Fox when I worked there,” Carlson revealed.
The former primetime host claimed Griffin’s anti-Trump sentiment was so pronounced that it damaged Fox News’ credibility with its core audience.
“She was discrediting the channel, she was such a Trump hater, and it was emotional,” Carlson explained, detailing his unsuccessful attempts to address the issue with network executives.
Fox News leadership rebuffed his concerns about Griffin’s coverage and protected her position within the organization, according to Carlson’s account.
One executive allegedly responded to Carlson’s complaints by saying, “You could not touch Jennifer Griffin,” highlighting the reporter’s apparent immunity from internal criticism.
Carlson questioned the value Griffin brought to the network, given what he characterized as her hostility toward Trump and his policies.
“She’s an idiot. She doesn’t tell the truth. She misleads our viewers. And she’s like a screaming liberal who hates Trump, who our viewers love. So what are we getting out of this?” Carlson continued.
Morris raised additional concerns about Griffin’s independence, noting that she maintains an office within the Pentagon building itself.
This physical proximity to military leadership, Morris suggested, creates potential conflicts of interest that could compromise Griffin’s objectivity in national security reporting.
Griffin has served as Fox News’ chief national security correspondent since 1996, establishing herself as a prominent voice on military and foreign policy matters.
Following Trump’s announcement of the Israel-Iran ceasefire, Carlson expressed relief on social media while simultaneously targeting another Fox News personality.
“Thank God Trump brokered a ceasefire. That’s the last thing Mark Levin wanted,” Carlson wrote on X, directing criticism at the radio host and Fox News contributor.
The comment represented the latest exchange in an ongoing feud between Carlson and Levin that has intensified in recent weeks.
