Ron DeSantis has been making moves to secure his political future.
The Florida Governor knows which way the wind is blowing.
And Florida just rolled out the red carpet for Donald Trump with one move that has Democrats fuming.
DeSantis clears the path for Trump’s presidential library
Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation on Tuesday that’s designed to make it as easy as possible for President Donald Trump to build his presidential library in Florida.
The new law stops local governments from creating bureaucratic obstacles or regulatory hurdles that could delay or complicate presidential library construction in the Sunshine State.
Under the legislation, cities and counties are now banned from enacting their own rules governing presidential libraries, except where federal law specifically allows it.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect for President Trump, who is already laying the groundwork for his presidential library during his second term.
State Senator Jason Brodeur, who sponsored the bill, made it clear this was all about welcoming Trump with open arms.
“In anticipation of Florida’s first presidential library, we should roll out the welcome mat and offer the president maximum flexibility to construct this historic landmark here in Florida,” Brodeur stated.
He emphasized that the protections in the bill “will prevent any municipality or county from imposing frivolous obstacles to the establishment of a presidential library within the state.”
DeSantis didn’t waste any time – he made the law effective immediately, proving Florida wants Trump’s library more than anywhere else.
Trump’s library funding reaches massive milestone
Trump has been putting together serious money for his presidential library, and what he’s accumulated will shock people.
Trump currently has $37 million in cash reserves, largely thanks to legal settlements with META and ABC News.
Meta agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit over Trump’s suspension from Facebook and Instagram following January 6, 2021, with $22 million going toward Trump’s presidential library.
ABC News agreed to pay $15 million toward Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos’ comments about Trump and E. Jean Carroll.
That figure could grow even larger if his expected settlement with Paramount over a 60 Minutes interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris goes his way.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump is considering the campus of Florida Atlantic University as a potential site for his library.
The college has offered the president free land for use through a 100-year lease, according to the WSJ.
The university’s location near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort makes it an attractive site for the project.
According to a source familiar with the situation, President Trump is close to reaching an agreement with FAU to build his library.
Trump’s sons have also launched the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, which was incorporated in Florida on May 19, 2025.
The foundation will handle the charitable and educational work while making sure Trump’s time as President gets the respect it deserves.
What Trump’s library will showcase
Nobody’s ever seen a presidential library like what Trump has in mind.
According to reports, Trump intends to display a luxury Boeing 747-8 jet gifted by Qatar as a key attraction at his library.
The jet, which has an estimated value of $400 million when new, has been accepted by the Pentagon for Trump’s use as Air Force One during his second term.
Under the arrangement, the aircraft will be transferred to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation after Trump leaves office.
Visitors will be able to tour the aircraft, creating a unique experience that no other presidential library can offer.
It’s a brilliant move that follows the model established by Ronald Reagan’s Presidential Library, where his Air Force One is displayed for guests to explore.
Americans love to see impressive things, and a luxury jet worth $400 million definitely qualifies.
All the papers and memorabilia from Trump’s presidency will be housed there, giving visitors a complete look at his time in office.
The government technically owns presidential records under federal law, but Trump gets to shape how visitors experience them.
That means the real story of his presidency will finally get told, not the version pushed by the mainstream media.
Obama went a different route with his Chicago library – his foundation runs the whole thing privately, but Trump’s sticking with the traditional setup where the National Archives handles the official records.
Florida Republicans get it – landing Trump’s library would be huge for the state.
Tourism alone will bring in millions, plus it cements Florida as the center of conservative politics in America.
Democrats are undoubtedly frustrated that they can’t throw up bureaucratic obstacles to slow down or complicate Trump’s library plans.
But DeSantis made sure that won’t be a problem, proving once again that Florida is the state where conservative priorities get results.
