In a gruesome case that has rocked the Louisiana community of Opelousas, a 33-year-old man has been charged with murdering his own mother after allegedly injecting her with methamphetamine and beating her to death.
Aaron Lloyd was arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail after police say he confessed to killing his 65-year-old mother, Lisa Lloyd, and hiding her body in a trash can outside her home.
According to authorities, the horror unfolded on Sunday when neighbors on Park Circle discovered Lisa’s body stuffed in a garbage bin beneath the carport. Disturbed by the gruesome find, they called the police immediately.
In a Facebook post, the Opelousas Police Department stated that a man had confessed to killing his mother and placing her remains in the trash. Officers tracked Aaron Lloyd to another home and brought him in for questioning.
They say he didn’t resist — and quickly admitted to the unthinkable.
According to investigators, Aaron told them he injected Lisa Lloyd with meth and then beat her to death. Police have not confirmed whether he was the same individual who made the initial 911 call, but that caller claimed to have killed his mother and hidden her in a trash can.
No motive for the alleged killing has been publicly disclosed.
Aaron Lloyd now faces a long list of charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery, obstruction of justice, failure to seek assistance, and distribution of a schedule II controlled substance.
He remains in custody at the St. Landry Parish Jail without bond.
Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc called the case “deeply tragic” and asked the community to keep the Lloyd family in their thoughts. “This is literally a son and a mother,” he said. “We ask for prayers at this time for the Lloyd family.”
The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover more details in what they describe as one of the most shocking crimes the area has seen in years.
