Have Democrats finally kicked their impeachment addiction? There may be encouraging signs.
On Tuesday, more than 100 members of the left-wing party rejected another effort to bring articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump, this time for the strikes against three Iranian nuclear sites, including the top enrichment facility at Fordow.
The resolution to impeach Trump for “usurping Congress’s power to declare war and ordered the United States military to bomb another country without the constitutionally mandated congressional authorization or notice to Congress,” was brought by Rep. Al Green (D-TX), the same lawmaker who stood during the president’s speech to a joint session of Congress earlier this year, shouted at him while waving a “pimp cane” in a menacing manner.

128 Democrats were squeamish enough to cross party lines in joining with House GOP lawmakers to table Green’s impeachment bid 344–79.
Granted that Rep. Green is a kook – and a racist one at that – but his move echoed a call from the party’s de facto leader and likely 2028 nominee, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) who beat Green to the punch shortly after the president announced that B2 stealth bombers had dropped their “full payload” of bunker busting bombs on the nuclear site.
The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.
He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations.
It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.

In other Iran-related news, Deep State neocons who are determined to drag the country into another one of the “forever” regime change wars that have been an unmitigated disaster aren’t going to simply pick up their ball and go home after Trump engineered a ceasefire between the combatants.
On Tuesday afternoon, just in time for the evening news cycle, CNN dropped its own bomb with a report that the strike that Trump said obliterated Fordow was a failure. A story that relied on unnamed sources at the Defense Intelligence Agency who leaked a top secret damage assessment that suggested Iran’s nuclear program wasn’t destroyed and could be back up and running in a matter of months.

Even though the version CNN featured on its website had the important caveat that “It is still early for the US to have a comprehensive picture of the impact of the strikes, and none of the sources described how the DIA assessment compares to the view of other agencies in the intelligence community,” the so-called “most trusted name in news” ran with the obvious angle to discredit Trump and make the case for further US involvement.
Following right on the heels of CNN was the New York Times, the paper that, more than two decades ago, was responsible for the big lie about Saddam Hussein’s aluminum tubes that was instrumental in making the case for the invasion of Iraq.
In a story that bore the names of SIX reporters, the propaganda organ backed up CNN’s big scoop. But the paper has a reputation for being a lie factory, and a dead giveaway that the story is sketchy is one of those six names that always signal mischief is afoot: Maggie Haberman.

Further confirming suspicions that the story is B.S. was ABC News, the Wall Street Journal, AP and others also picking it up, amplifying CNN’s reporting based on anonymous sources – that may not even exist – in a classic circular pattern of spreading propaganda as has been seen over and over since Trump first entered the political arena.
If it seems like deja vu of the lies from the leadup to the Bush-Cheney Iraq debacle, that’s because it is the exact same playbook. It’s like a sequel to Saddam Hussein’s missing – or more accurately, nonexistent – WMDs, and now the narrative is also being promoted that the whereabouts of the Iranian uranium is anybody’s guess.
“FAKE NEWS CNN STRIKES AGAIN,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement posted to X, debunking CNN’s big scoop.
“This alleged ‘assessment’ is flat-out wrong and was classified as “top secret” but was still leaked to CNN by an anonymous, low-level loser in the intelligence community,” she wrote. “The leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program.”
But that it’s highly suspect and attributed to anonymous sources won’t matter, and that’s all the narrative engineers need to push their latest war.
Maybe the Democrats can now try to impeach Trump if he doesn’t bomb Iran again.
