Congressman Jimmy Patronis, R-Fla., says the U.S. has to be fiscally sound when it comes to programs like Medicaid.
“I just hope that the Senate does not lose sight that we’ve got a country that we [have] to keep financially and fiscally healthy and some of these measures are not bad policies,” Patronis said on the Tuesday edition of the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show.
President Donald Trump’s “one big beautiful bill” is currently in the Senate. The bill includes key components of his agenda, such as no taxes on tips, increased border security funding and extending the president’s 2017 tax cuts.
The bill also makes some changes to Medicaid, requiring some people to work to receive benefits.
“Medicaid was built to be for those who could least access health insurance… the disabled, the elderly, women and children,” Patronis said.
