Many of us now know that Communist China has infiltrated our education system. But not as many Americans are aware that Hamas-sponsoring, jihad-backing, West-hating Qatar is also significantly involved in influencing US education.
Rabbi David Wolpe is a former Harvard faculty fellow, and the Alumni Free Speech Alliance (AFSA) shared a clip of Wolpe discussing how Qatar has fueled the disturbing and often violent anti-Israel protests on campuses—and created the antisemitic fervor years ago.
Wolpe noted the fact that the protests were not organic. Billionaires like George Soros were involved, but so were foreign governments. “Same brand of expensive tents, handbooks found afterwards—this was all organized,” Wolpe said. AFSA added:
But his sharpest warning? Foreign money—especially from Qatar—shaping education from the top down.
When he questioned then-President Claudine Gay about Qatari funding:
“She said, ‘We only take money from families.’ And I said, ‘The family that rules Qatar is a family like a mafioso family—not like your family or mine.’”
Qatar’s influence now extends beyond higher ed: “They bring K–12 teachers to Qatar, business class, all expenses paid, give them teaching modules, and send them home.”
This, he says, is no longer just about antisemitism:
“It is a large anti-Western movement… If you can push your ideology at Harvard and Oxford, you’ve captured the Golden Fleece.”
Wolpe is hopeful for the Trump administration’s push for increased transparency. “Foreign donation reporting was already a requirement—it just was never observed.”
Qatar has hosted and supported genocidal Hamas leaders more than any other country. They should not be allowed to influence any of our schools.
