A Florida businessman has been arrested after allegedly ambushing his former partner in a Life Time gym parking lot, tasing him, forcing him into a truck at gunpoint, and demanding $50,000 from the man’s mother in a wild real-life crime saga.
Alberto Iturrey, 39, is now facing six felony charges — including armed kidnapping and robbery — after police say he orchestrated a violent takedown of his longtime friend and business associate, Jeremy Marcus, also 39, on June 9 in Boca Raton.
The two men, childhood friends turned business partners, had been working together on ventures involving firearms, real estate, and pawning. But according to Marcus, things soured after he discovered Iturrey was allegedly mishandling money and failing to be transparent with their finances.
In late 2024, Marcus tried to end their partnership after a $140,000 deal, saying the money essentially covered a debt they owed to his mother — a clean break. But Iturrey didn’t take it well. According to police, he spiraled into debt and drug use, showed up at Marcus’ workplace acting “jittery,” and was kicked out after screaming and making a scene.
Things turned darker when Iturrey reportedly began leaving increasingly threatening WhatsApp voice messages. In one, he warned Marcus, “You cannot afford not to pay me.” In another, he said, “Your mom’s in the middle of it… you have ’til Monday to pay me.” And in perhaps the most ominous message of all: “Whatever happens from there is consequences of your actions.”
Then came the alleged ambush.
Marcus told police he had just finished a workout when he was tased from behind in the gym parking lot. As the shock wore off, he looked up and saw Iturrey standing over him — switching out the taser for a gun.
According to the police report, Iturrey forced Marcus into his truck, ordered him to handcuff himself, and demanded his mother wire $50,000, claiming it was urgent and that he’d explain later. While handcuffed, Marcus tried to call 911, but Iturrey snatched his phone before the call went through.
The bank wasn’t open, so the pair bizarrely stopped at Starbucks, then went back to Marcus’ house, where Iturrey allegedly stole a Rolex, $30,000 in cash, and several firearms.
Before leaving, Iturrey allowed Marcus to shower and treat a head wound — then dropped him back off at the Life Time gym where it all began.
Marcus didn’t report the attack immediately, instead trying to obtain surveillance footage from the gym. When he was denied access, he finally went to police.
Detectives later obtained the footage themselves, confirming the taser attack and vehicle description. With further evidence — including a Starbucks receipt and the interrupted 911 call — police arrested Iturrey on June 19.
He’s currently being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail and is due back in court on July 21. His charges include armed kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, grand theft over $20,000, theft of firearms, and witness tampering.
