While the cost of illegal immigration continues to hit the American taxpayer harder than our laws probably allow, it’s the behavior of the people defending this insanity that makes it all even more expensive.
The anti-ICE riots that broke out in Los Angeles are expected to cost taxpayers around $30 million.
I’m sure residents would also like to know how much illegal immigration and sanctuary city policies are costing them daily, but that’s neither here nor there.
According to The Post Millennial:
Los Angeles City Controller Kenneth Mejia posted the figure on X, saying that the cost of LAPD’s response and work to patrol the riots and protests added up to $29.5 million and public property as well as clean-up efforts will cost $1.4 million.
He wrote the “$29.5 million or 92% relates to LAPD’s response to protests against ICE including citywide tactical alert costs,” and that the “$1.4 million relates to clean-up / public property damage.”
Downtown LA became what was the epicenter of a number of anti-ICE riots that took place around the nation earlier this month in Democrat-controlled cities. Over the course of the weekend of June 8, rioters burned Waymo cars, assaulted police officers, and mass looting ensued in downtown LA. Amid the violence, the Trump administration was forced to deploy the National Guard to LA as the violence took place, costing around $134 million.
Is it just a coincidence that the same people fighting for the so-called right to ensure “no human is illegal” are also the ones costing LA taxpayers millions? And is it also a coincidence that the very policies these activists are pushing for end up costing even more? I don’t think so.
That being said, it turns out the president was right — the city did not have it under control. And the fact that, to this day, these same people are still trying to politicize the situation and blame Trump, despite failing to do even the bare minimum of their jobs, tells you everything you need to know.
