Chef Anne Burrell’s death last week in New York is reportedly being investigated as an overdose.
Burrell, 55, was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Tuesday. An internal document that detailed how the Food Network Star was found unresponsive in the shower alongside “approximately 100 assorted pills,” according to The New York Times.
The publication also reported that in January, it was revealed that Burrell would not host “America’s Worst Cooks.” An Instagram user asked Burrell about her absence on the upcoming season — to which she responded, “Honestly I don’t know.”
The night before her death, Burrell reportedly performed improv for the first time at a venue in Brooklyn. Burrell’s husband allegedly found her lifeless the following morning and called 911.
On Friday, a spokesperson for the city’s medical examiner’s office told The New York Times that Burrell’s autopsy was completed. However, officials said her cause and manner of death are still pending.
