Democrats once again weaponized the courts to try to bring down President Trump.
But Democrats were in for a nasty surprise.
And Gavin Newsom just made this bad bet against Donald Trump.
President Trump learned the lesson from the 2020 “summer of love.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass turned over the streets of L.A. to an insurrectionist mob that torched cars, looted businesses, and attempted to murder police officers in the name of stopping President Trump’s mass deportations.
Shirtless thugs waved the Mexican flag as the mob rampaged across the city.
Trump immediately called in 4,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to put a stop to the rioting.
Newsom did what all Democrats do in the age of Trump – he ran to the nearest Democrat judge and filed a lawsuit.
Democrat Judge Charles Breyer – brother of liberal former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer – usurped President Trump’s position in the chain of command as commander-in-chief and ordered the National Guard back under Newsom’s control.
Newsom crowed about the win.
“The courts have ruled on the Guard. They will be back under my command,” Newsom barked. “Donald Trump will be relieved of his command at noon tomorrow.”
But the celebration didn’t last long.
That’s because a unanimous three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Breyer’s judicial coup.
Now it was President Trump’s turn to spike the football.
“The Judges obviously realized that Gavin Newscum is incompetent and ill prepared, but this is much bigger than Gavin, because all over the United States, if our Cities, and our people, need protection, we are the ones to give it to them should State and Local Police be unable, for whatever reason, to get the job done,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “This is a Great Decision for our Country, and we will continue to protect and defend law-abiding Americans.”
Even CNN’s liberal legal analyst Elie Honig had to admit Trump won a total victory on the idea the courts couldn’t interfere in the commander-in-chief’s core function to deploy the military.
“So, the core ruling here from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is, yes, the federal courts do have some role in reviewing the president’s decision to deploy the National Guard. However, the courts can’t just second-guess the president and overturn him if they disagree,” Honig began.
“The Court of Appeals says we, all of us here in the federal judiciary, we have to give very broad deference to the president. So, unless his decision is patently absurd or based on bad faith, then we have to step back and let the president exercise this power. So it’s a big win for President Trump. As we know, he has sought at all times to expand his executive authority, and this is a win for him,” Honig concluded.
Trump’s first term has so far been defined by lawless power grabs by Democrat district court judges to veto the idea that Donald Trump can exercise the constitutional powers of the presidency.
But in this case, the left lost big time.
