Leftist pro-illegal alien activists successfully prevented U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from arresting a convicted child rapist on Friday.
ICE agents in Denver sought on Friday to arrest Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, an El Salvadoran illegal alien who was previously convicted of child rape in Italy, but were foiled by activists from the group Colorado Rapid Response.
“During our surveillance of Leon, members of Colorado Rapid Response arrived on scene and alerted him to law enforcements presence which allowed him to escape arrest,” ICE reported on X. “Groups like this interfere with ICE’s ability to keep communities safe.”

After Leon-Deras made his escape, the Department of Homeland Security’s official X account slammed the activists.
“Individuals and groups impeding ICE operations are siding with vicious cartels, human traffickers, and violent criminals,” the department wrote. “This group will not stop us or slow us down.”
“ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. President Trump campaigned on immigration enforcement, the American people voted for it, and DHS is delivering,” they added.

Responding to this troubling news, critics called for the members of Colorado Rapid Response to be arrested and prosecuted.
What happened was “despicable,” one critic tweeted.
“If they weren’t arrested, I sure hope they will be,” the critic continued. “Federal law needs to be tightened up to mandatory lengthy sentences and big fines for those who interfere with ICE, endanger them, and stalk them.”

This isn’t the first example of leftists rushing to protect illegal aliens, nor will it likely be the last.
The National Immigrant Justice Center, another pro-illegal alien group, published a “toolkit” in 2017 on how to “defend against ICE raids and community arrests.”
“In this toolkit, we have assembled our research … to support community defense against ICE’s deportation dragnet,” the toolkit reads. “It contains information on: (1) who ICE targets for deportation; (2) where and how ICE locates people in communities; and (3) ICE arrest tactics during raids.”
“We also include ideas on how to fight back against these abusive practices that destroy the fabric and safety of communities, emergency
preparedness resources for those at risk of deportation, and possible legal and community challenges for those who have experienced raids,” the 41-page toolkit continues.
On Wednesday, anti-ICE activists in Portland, Oregon, reportedly tried to block the entrance to ICE’s local building using fireworks and lasers.
Portland, OR looks like a war zone. Last night a mob of violent rioters stormed an ICE office and targeted federal law enforcement. They launched fireworks and shined lasers in officers’ eyes to temporarily blind them.
Five rioters were arrested.
