On May 23, 2023, Mark—who was 73 years old at the time—with his comrade-in-arms, Dick Schaefer, were brutally attacked by 28-year-old Patrick Brice, outside a Planned Parenthood in Baltimore, Maryland…
These courageous pro-life prayer warriors were praying and offering hope to abortion-bound women when the 6’2” Brice went into frenzy against Mark and Dick—first pile-driving Dick into a concrete flowerpot.
Mark ran to help his friend in need, when Brice turned his rage against Mark, striking him to the ground.
With Mark, already on the ground, Brice then kicked him in the head with what the police officers described as “extreme force.”

There was blood on the sidewalk, and Mark’s face was shattered—his orbital plate fractured in the brutal assault. Mark had to spend 3 days at a local trauma center and still suffers from permanent eye damage.
You and I both know that since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, there’s been a massive rise in violence against pro-life advocates across the country…
Pro-life prayer warriors like Mark face relentless persecution outside abortion mills, targeted by jack-booted thugs like Brice, who resort to wielding violence to silence peaceful witnesses for life.
Mark’s courage earned him a hero’s honor when President Trump invited him as a distinguished guest to the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), saluting his fearless stand for our innocent preborn brothers and sisters.
Yet, this fight rages on, because justice has not yet been fully served against Mark’s attacker.
A jury found Brice guilty on February 6, 2025, of two counts of second-degree assault. Remarkably, on the first-degree assault charge against Mark, the jury was hung!
But that’s not all.
Since then, Brice has been allowed to remain free on his own recognizance.
Justice was not served that day for Mark.
But next week, Mark’s attacker is headed back to court for a retrial on first-degree assault. We’re fighting to do all we can to make sure that justice is done this time around. We’re aiding Mark in court, providing him with expert victim’s counsel to help the prosecutor ensure that this retrial is fair and complete—and that justice is no longer delayed.
We sincerely hope that the legal system will deliver righteous justice, ensuring Mark’s brutal attacker faces the full consequences of his heinous crimes!
