
Florida’s Attorney General James Uthmeier proposed a new detention center for illegal aliens located at an abandoned airport in the middle of the Everglades.
“This is an old, virtually abandoned airport facility right in the middle of the Everglades,” Uthmeier told Florida’s Voice in an interview published Thursday.
“Florida’s been leading on immigration enforcement, supporting the Trump administration and ICE efforts to detain and deport criminal aliens,” he said.
Uthmeier told Florida’s Voice that Republican Florida Governor Ron Desantis tasked state leaders with identifying locations to temporarily detain illegal migrants.
“I call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz,’” Uthmeier said.
