After months of campaigning, the final chance for MPs to vote on Kim Leadbeater’s assisted suicide bill is expected tomorrow.
This is the crucial vote. If it goes to the House of Lords, Peers can amend it, but MPs will only vote again on their amendments, not on the Bill as a whole.
This has been a long, hard campaign (and an even harder week!) but please do what final actions you can to defeat this Bill NOW. It is on a knife edge, and every vote counts.
Email your MP asking him/her to attend the debate tomorrow and vote against the Bill. This is especially important if your MP opposed the Bill in November – we need to make sure every single MP on our side is in Parliament tomorrow and votes against. With numbers so close, turnout will be crucial.
You can use our MP tool, which tells you which way your MP voted, and provides an editable template.Contact MP
If your MP voted against the Bill in November (which you can check using our tool) or has switched to opposing the Bill, please ring their office and ask them to attend the debate tomorrow and vote against. You can find your MP’s contact details here:
A great last minute action is to contact your MP on social media. If you are on X (formerly Twitter) please tweet your MP. You can use your own words, or here are ten recent posts or articles with the links you can tweet to your MP.Links to tweet to your MP
And finally…
If you are able to get to London tomorrow, please join us and other groups to stand against the Bill outside Parliament. More details and sign-up here:Demo.
Thank you for everything you have done in these last months, and I hope to see many of you tomorrow!
