Tensions are running high within the Trump administration — at least with their relationship to the barrage of reporters peppering them with questions about the rapidly changing situation unfolding between Iran and Israel.
According to the Daily Mail, CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins entered a heated back-and-forth exchange with President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One earlier this week after Trump left the G7 Summit earlier than planned.
Collins pressed the president on whether or not the United States would be getting involved militarily to help eliminate Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The CNN reporter’s questions came shortly after Trump, in a Truth Social post, wrote “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” which sparked mountains of speculation as to why he would write that.
What happened?
Her first series of questions for the president dealt with another Truth Social post in which Trump shot down speculation that he was leaving the summit early to secure a ceasefire between the two nations.
Collins pressed the president on the issue, demanding he explain what he was working on if it wasn’t a ceasefire deal, which clearly rubbed the president the wrong way.
“Who else has a question other than CNN fake news?” Trump said to the rest of the reporters surrounding him.
“We’re not looking for a ceasefire,” Trump continued. “I didn’t say it was going to be a ceasefire… I think we’re looking for better than a ceasefire.”
The Daily Mail added:
‘Do you plan to send the vice president and [Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff?’ Collins, 35, asked, speaking over other journalists.
An increasingly impatient Trump, 79, shot back: ‘Not sure yet. I may. Depends on what happens when I get back.’
Collins then went on to ask if the United States would be interested in completely destroying what’s left of Iran’s nuclear program.
“I hope their program’s going to be wiped out long before then – but they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump replied.
