In a major victory for conservative states and the rights of children everywhere, the Supreme Court has upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender transition treatments for minors. This landmark ruling will likely embolden other states to enact similar restrictions, protecting children from irreversible medical decisions.
At a glance:
• The Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors in a 6-3 decision split along ideological lines
• Chief Justice John Roberts emphasized that policy decisions should be left to elected representatives and the democratic process
• Tennessee’s law specifically prohibits puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries related to gender transition for minors
• The ruling determines that the ban does not violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause
• This decision sets a precedent that could uphold similar laws in 24 other states with comparable restrictions
Supreme Court Delivers Major Win for States’ Rights
The Supreme Court’s conservative majority just delivered a decisive victory for parental rights advocates and state lawmakers concerned about experimental treatments on children. In a 6-3 decision, the justices ruled that Tennessee’s law banning gender transition treatments for minors does not violate the Constitution’s equal protection clause.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the majority opinion, emphasizing that these policy decisions belong in the hands of elected officials.
“Having concluded it does not, we leave questions regarding its policy to the people, their elected representatives, and the democratic process,” Roberts stated in the ruling.
At oral arguments for US v Skrmetti, a mom told @DailySignal her son knew he was a trans girl since “birth.”
“Violet told us when she was 1.5,” the mom said while protesting a Tennessee law banning child sex changes.

It’s great news, with a catch: Blue states will no doubt double down, meaning children might now only be safe in Republican states.
Tennessee Officials Celebrate Constitutional Victory
Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti hailed the decision as a major win for protecting children from potentially harmful medical interventions. “A bipartisan supermajority of Tennessee’s elected representatives carefully considered the evidence and voted to protect kids from irreversible decisions they cannot yet fully understand,” Skrmetti said following the court’s ruling.
There is no such thing as a trans child. Only adults who are seeking attention and validating their own narcissism by pushing irreversible and irresponsible gender delusion on children.
Proud of TN for winning this at the Supreme Court!

The law, enacted in 2023, specifically prohibits puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries related to gender transition for minors in Tennessee. The Supreme Court’s decision allows the state to continue enforcing these protections for children while similar laws in two dozen other states now stand on firmer legal ground.
Liberals React with Dismay
The court’s three liberal justices predictably dissented from the majority opinion. Justice Sonia Sotomayor argued that the law “constitutes a ban on lifesaving medical treatment and disregards the opinions of parents and doctors regarding the necessity of treatment for minors.” She did not, however, provide any evidence that these “treatments” save lives – nor has any credible study suggested they can.
The news comes after several European nations recently tightened regulations on gender transition treatments for minors due to concerns about long-term effects and the lack of conclusive scientific evidence supporting such interventions for children.
The case, titled U.S. v. Skrmetti, represents a significant setback for Democrats and the legacy of the Biden administration, which had supported challenges to the law.
