Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday defended President Donald Trump from attacks regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, claiming that the president has earned the trust of Americans when it comes to foreign policy.
The vice president noted that his boss has been consistent in his opposition to Iran developing nuclear weapons, highlighting that there have been multiple times since 2015 where Trump claimed the Middle Eastern country cannot have them.
The lengthy social media post comes after Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran last week that targeted its nuclear facilities. Trump has since shared support for Israel, highlighting how dangerous a nuclear-capable Iran would be.
“POTUS has been amazingly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Vance insisted. “Over the last few months, he encouraged his foreign policy team to reach a deal with the Iranians to accomplish this goal. The president has made clear that Iran cannot have uranium enrichment. And he said repeatedly that this would happen one of two ways–the easy way or the ‘other’ way.”
