We got word last night that President Donald Trump bailed on the G7 and left Calgary a day early to head back to Washington, D.C. and work on Middle East issues. He was there for the traditional class photo and took questions with Prime Minister Mark Carney and then he said peace out.
While not there for the whole G7 Summit, Trump did manage to offend a fairly wide audience. While acknowledging the trade deal with the United Kingdom, our President indicated that the UK was part of the European Union. He can’t do that. Americans are a little sensitive because of Joe Biden. From the Daily Express:
Donald Trump committed two embarrassing gaffes during today’s meeting with Keir Starmer, in which the US President inadvertently dropped a crucial document and referred to an ‘EU deal’ whilst discussing his agreement with the UK.
The US President and UK Prime Minister convened at the G7 conference in Alberta, Canada, today, where leaders are addressing a series of ongoing crises, including the conflict in Ukraine and the continuing exchange between Iran and Israel. The UK and US were poised to sign a “really important agreement” against the backdrop of the conference this afternoon, months after a trade deal was mooted during Sir Keir’s official White House visit earlier this year.

While they celebrated the trade deal’s progress, US President seems reluctant to put his signature on one crucial document. Members of the G7 were ready to endorse a joint declaration urging Israel and Iran to tone down tensions.
According to reports, Mr Trump sees no need to sign the statement that recognises Israel’s “right to defend itself” while stating Iran “must not come into possession of a nuclear weapon”.
The official standpoint from the White House indicated President Trump would stick to his commitment of “continue to work towards ensuring Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon”. Their spokesperson stated: “Under the strong leadership of President Trump, the United States is back to leading the effort to restore peace around the world. President Trump will continue to work towards ensuring Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon.”
And then Trump reminded everyone how they kicked Vladimir Putin and Russia out which helped lead to the war.
Trump with Mark Carney: “The G7 used to be the G8. Barack Obama and a person named Trudeau didn’t want to have Russia in, and I would say that was a mistake, because I think you wouldn’t have a war right now if you had Russia in.” pic.twitter.com/RZHnmHtgfp

There have been hints that Iran and her leader Ayatollah Khamenei were wanting to come back to the negotiating table since Sunday night. Israel’s wonderful pilots control the airspace over the habitable parts of Iran and Israel is mainly hitting military and strategic targets. From the Wall Street Journal:
Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the U.S. via Arab intermediaries, Middle Eastern and European officials said.
In the midst of a ferocious Israeli air campaign, Tehran has told Arab officials it would be open to returning to the negotiating table as long as the U.S. doesn’t join the attack, the officials said. Iran also passed messages to Israel saying it is in the interest of both sides to keep the violence contained.
But with Israeli warplanes able to fly freely over the capital and Iranian counterattacks inflicting minimal damage, Israeli leaders have little incentive to halt their assault before doing more to destroy Iran’s nuclear sites and further weaken the theocratic government’s hold on power.
Whatever new information is now available, Trump told the other G7 members that he would have dinner and then take off for D.C.. Trump also warned Iranians to evacuate:
“Iran should have signed the “deal” I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” –President Donald J. Trump pic.twitter.com/oniUSgsMWA

Yes, Trump clearly has the inside scoop from Israel, but Israel had warned Tehran residents to evacuate hours early when they hit the Iran television base.
More from the Wall Street Journal:
Israeli officials have said the military has prepared at least two weeks of strikes. On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron told his Iranian counterpart “to return swiftly to the negotiating table to reach an agreement,” and Arab leaders have called for an end to the fighting. President Trump resisted a military campaign for much of the year but has since cheered on Israel’s attacks and said Iran missed a chance to cut a deal.
“They’d like to talk, but they should have done that before,” Trump told reporters Monday in Canada, confirming that Iran had reached out through intermediaries to de-escalate.
Responding to Trump’s comments, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said Monday that the U.S. president isn’t telling Israel to rein in its military campaign, which hadn’t yet reached its midway point.
“Trump isn’t telling us to stop,” Smotrich said.
Iran has told some Arab officials it won’t unilaterally stop fighting and will continue to respond to Israeli attacks aiming to restore deterrence.
Securing a pause could give Iran breathing room to regroup and for pressure to build internationally against Israel’s campaign. It would also be a win for Tehran to keep the U.S. from bringing its bunker-busting military capabilities into the fight.
Israel won’t be in a war of attrition with Iran. Iran doesn’t have the munitions or the money. I am sure Iranian leaders have the will, if they live long enough.
Trump waved buh-bye to the G7 and headed back to Washington to negotiate for these fools in Iran. If they will give up any idea of every getting nuclear warheads, Trump will help them out. If Iran gives up the idea of killing the Little Satan (Israel) and the Great Satan (us), I am sure Trump will make them an offer.
Trump wanted his Cabinet in the Situation Room tonight, so we will see.
