On this day, June 16, in 1858, at the Illinois Republican State Convention, Abraham Lincoln gave a historic speech based on the Bible verse where Christ warned that a house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25). While Lincoln was saying America could not long continue half slave and half free, he could have said with equal truth that either the Democrats or the patriots must win in the end. And unfortunately, as of right now, the Democrats are winning the Civil War that never really ended.
Unfortunately, patriots have long refused to take the Democrats as seriously as the Democrats take themselves, hence we have a house more divided than ever. That division is partly, of course, because we persist in still compromising with Democrats on their perverse policies, including abortion, LGBTQ ideology, illegal immigration, and more. We celebrate the anti-American, corrupt Democrats of times past, from Andrew “Trail of Tears” Jackson to socialist FDR to election-rigging John F. Kennedy, and the Democrat leaders of the Confederacy. We ignore or outright deny not only the treachery of Confederates but their mass-scale war crimes. We pretend we can share a nation with people who are gleeful at the dismemberment of babies, the castration of teenagers, the destruction of cities, and the trampling of the Constitution.
