Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin was all for declaring “No Kings” in the nation, but the optics of a social media post spoke volumes.
The Maryland lawmaker touted the protests that must have been disappointing to his party in a weekend filled with other breaking news. But his post on X declaring, “We have no Kings and no subjects in the United States of America,” painted a different picture for many observers.
That flag says otherwise.

Raskin’s photo featuring a rainbow flag – posted on Flag Day – drew plenty of criticism.
Perfect photo. 10/10. No notes pic.twitter.com/FjxcCuhB43

On Flag day, you don’t even bother flying the American flag.
Shame on you.

Looks like your king is flying at the top of the mast.

Thank you for continuing to represent HATRED for your country. It is mutual. Any American flags at your rally? Just curious.

“We have no kings here. We have no queens here. We have no emperors. We have no dictators, we have no despots, and we have no serfs and no slaves, and no subjects. And none of us is a subject to Donald Trump. None of us is a subject to Mike Johnson,” Raskin said to reporters in front of the U.S. Capitol last week before the planned “No Kings” demonstrations.
“We are all citizens. Those of us who aspire and attain to public office are nothing but the servants of the people,” he added, invoking the U.S. Constitution, which Democrats do when it fits the narrative.
Even as the protests seemed to be drowned out by other breaking news, Raskin still took to X on Saturday evening to jab at President Donald Trump and go back to the debunked Russia hoax.
The United States of America: No Kings since 1776.
Donald Trump: Russian-owned since 1978.

The Maryland Democrat was once again raked over the coals on X.
How do you serve in Washington when you clearly disrespect our military? As a military mom and military family I have 3 words for you .. SHAME ON YOU!! Today is the Anniversary of the @USArmy .. where my dad, uncle, and son have served for YOUR FREEDOM! AND THIS IS HOW YOU THANK…

We’re really back to the Russia thing, that has already been debunked, leading back to being paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC??? pic.twitter.com/7sJeb3d9X7

At some point, someone has to just sue @RepRaskin for libel.
— Constitutional Muster (@ChipBorman) June 15, 2025
Still going with the whole Russia thing? You guys have literally nothing. No wonder you poll at 18%
— Scott Harnett (@ScottHarnett_) June 15, 2025
You guys need a new line.

It seems a bit insurrectional to claim that the president’s office is occupied by a foreign nation. I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a well-deserved subpoena from a better congressional committee.
