Well, that didn’t take long. David Hogg, the self-anointed savior of progressive politics and professional microphone hog, is officially out as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. Turns out, even in the left’s never-ending diversity Olympics, a white, male, hard-left activist with a personal PAC and a messiah complex just isn’t intersectional enough.
Hogg, who had been elected DNC vice chair, announced Wednesday that he wouldn’t be seeking reelection after a party vote called for a redo. The reason? Diversity quotas. Apparently, the original vote gave male candidates (Hogg and Malcolm Kenyatta) access to more votes than their female counterparts, triggering a complaint that the process was unfair. You’d think a party obsessed with identity politics would’ve seen this coming.
In a 25-post farewell thread on X (because of course it was 25 posts), Hogg insisted he was stepping aside to let the party “focus on what really matters,” which, in his case, is his PAC “Leaders We Deserve” — the same PAC that pledged to spend $20 million to primary safe-seat Democrats. Yeah, nothing says party unity like threatening your own side with a pile of donor cash.
Activist Kalyn Free’s formal complaint spelled out the supposed injustice: Hogg and Kenyatta had access to 817 votes, while the three female candidates only had 408.5. You don’t need to be a math major to see how that looks on a DEI flowchart. But let’s be honest — that’s not why the knives came out.
Hogg’s real sin wasn’t being a man or even being white. It was being a self-serving spotlight addict who tried to hijack the DNC’s agenda. The diversity angle just provided a convenient excuse to push him out the back door.
As one might expect, Hogg couldn’t resist playing martyr. He claimed the DNC “pledged to remove me” and said the vote gave them an “avenue to fast-track that effort.” Translation: they finally found a woke-enough reason to rid themselves of a PR liability.
Malcolm Kenyatta, the other vice chair candidate, didn’t seem thrilled to inherit Hogg’s mess. After the revote decision, he said it felt like “a slap in my face.” And when audio leaked of DNC Chair Ken Martin nearly breaking down during a tense Zoom call with Hogg, fingers quickly pointed toward… well, guess who. Hogg denied leaking the clip, but not very convincingly.
Now, some on the right are joking — or maybe half-hoping — that Hogg should sue the DNC for discrimination. After all, by their own standards, booting someone for being the wrong skin tone and gender is… problematic, right? Imagine the headline: “Woke Party Sued for Being Too Woke.” You’d need popcorn and a front-row seat for that circus.
In the end, this saga isn’t just about David Hogg. It’s about a party that built a political machine on identity politics, only to get run over by it. And if this is what the DNC calls progress, Republicans are going to enjoy the show.
