California is burning again while law-abiding citizens cower in fear.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s failed leadership has turned the Golden State into a lawless wasteland.
And Gavin Newsom was fuming after Ron DeSantis dropped one brutal truth about the California riots.
DeSantis calls out California’s chaos while defending Trump’s immigration enforcement
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t mince words when he witnessed the mayhem that unfolded in Los Angeles County over the weekend.
Violent riots erupted across the region as radical leftists protested the Trump administration’s lawful immigration enforcement operations.
DeSantis condemned the disorder during a media availability where he promoted his state’s manufacturing growth.
“I think cause people realize their businesses aren’t going to burn down in Florida and you’re going to be able to actually keep law and order,” DeSantis said about the stark contrast between his state and California.
“I see what’s going on out there, and it’s really disgraceful to be letting the inmates run the asylum,” DeSantis said during his Fox News interview with Martha MacCallum.
The Florida Governor pointed out the absurdity of the riots, noting that protesters were burning American flags while waving Mexican flags.
“They are supposedly objecting to the enforcement of immigration laws. And so they are protesting that, which, first of all, the federal government has a right to do – that’s the laws of this country,” DeSantis explained.
“You have some of these people, they are objecting because they don’t want to get kicked out of America, yet they are burning the American flag. And yet they are waving the flag of the country that they don’t want to get sent back to,” DeSantis continued.
“Can you please make this make sense to me? I mean it’s insane.”
Florida’s tough approach keeps businesses and families safe
The contrast between Florida and California couldn’t be more stark.
While Los Angeles burned, DeSantis has built a reputation for maintaining law and order in the Sunshine State.
In February, DeSantis signed strong anti-illegal immigration measures into state law.
He’s executed immigration crackdowns under Operation Tidal Wave and overseen other enforcement measures carried out by state officials.
Unlike the chaos in Los Angeles, DeSantis has successfully kept Florida’s destinations safe from riots.
During spring break, one of Florida’s most challenging times for law enforcement, DeSantis deployed 100 state troopers and additional resources including drones and K9 units to support local agencies.
The crackdown included increased law enforcement personnel and DUI checkpoints to maintain order in Miami Beach.
“What happens in California, I think, a lot of people over the years – they just haven’t felt safe, particularly in places like LA and San Francisco, because they really do let the inmates run the asylum,” DeSantis said.
“When you try and do that in Florida, the chances of you getting away with that is precisely zero because we will hold you accountable and do that very quickly.”
Newsom gets schooled on effective leadership
The spat between DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom escalated when Newsom tried to mock Florida’s spring break preparations.
Newsom sarcastically asked if DeSantis would have Trump send Marines to Miami Beach to handle spring break crowds.
DeSantis fired back with a devastating response that highlighted the difference between competent leadership and California’s failed approach.
“Spring Break in Miami Beach has been peaceful and quiet the last couple of years because the local and state officials work together to enforce the laws. California should try it sometimes,” DeSantis replied.
The Florida Governor also took to social media to drive home his point about California’s dysfunction.
“Not surprising to see CA state officials living in a leftist information bubble. Miami Beach spring break is a great example of responding to a problem and fixing it,” DeSantis posted on X.

DeSantis spent much of Sunday criticizing the riots in Los Angeles and blasting legacy media bias for calling the violent disorder “protests” instead of what they really were – riots.
The Trump administration has every right to enforce immigration law
DeSantis defended the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations that sparked the California riots.
“DHS [Department of Homeland Security] has every right to be enforcing the laws,” DeSantis stated.
The riots began on June 6 when Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted enforcement operations in Los Angeles and arrested at least 44 people on immigration violations.
The Department of Homeland Security said about 1,000 protesters surrounded federal law enforcement buildings, assaulted ICE officers, slashed tires, and defaced government property.
Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles after the riots continued for three days.
Images from the riots showed protesters on dirt bikes waving Mexican flags while burning American flags – a symbol of the backwards priorities that have consumed California’s political leadership.
Newsom has previously called the deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles “unlawful,” arguing that it violated state sovereignty.
But DeSantis understands that enforcing federal immigration law is not only legal but necessary to protect American communities.
The Florida Governor has shown that states can support federal immigration enforcement while maintaining public safety and order.
Ron DeSantis continues to prove that strong leadership and respect for the rule of law can keep communities safe while California descends into chaos under Gavin Newsom’s failed policies.
