As our Democrat-run cities burst into flames on both coasts because of “peaceful protest” of ICE, it’s important to get a glimpse of who is fueling these fires.
According to this, college students, agitators and rich brats with nothing better to do are among them.
Cops cuffed 86 demonstrators at a rowdy anti-ICE rally in Lower Manhattan Tuesday, among them the daughter of a Moroccan actor, a self-proclaimed poet from an upscale college and a coed whose family owns a posh home in the Hamptons.”-Georgett Roberts, Patrick Reilly and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon, The New York Post
We will make these anti-ICE warriors famous for just a few minutes because, frankly, it’s comical and a bit tragic.
First up is 19 year-old Vega Violet Alia Barrada Gullette. From her (self-written, I am sure) Bio:
Vega Violet Alia Barrada Gullette is a Moroccan-American writer, artist, and lover of junk. She is currently studying literature and political science at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. She’s a sucker for wildflowers, old clothes, blasting music on the highway, and eating ice cream in bed.”
This ICE Warrior loves screaming in the faces of law-enforcement, shouting “Down with the Patriarchy”, Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. She loves attempted assault in the second degree and obstructing government administration. Vega also happens to be the daughter of Sean Gullette, an actor, screenwriter and director. Gullette’s friends showed up at her court hearing yesterday in keffiyehs. What a group of darlings. Sisters for life.
Enter ICE Warrior #2, Rachel Schreiber, 22, of Brooklyn, who also was ready for her close-up in a Manhattan criminal court. She smiled and said “so many” when her besties showed up to offer their support. Mommy and Daddy own a $3 million dollar home in The Hamptons and they were not quite “ready” to discuss their daughter’s resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and attempted assault charges. Might look bad for them at the country club, though, I am sure the country club is a-buzzing. But, hell, even poor, little rich girls need a summer job that is befitting to them:
Come work for me this summer, says George Soros.
As usual, mostly white women.

Pick a city. Los Angeles, New York, Seattle.
Now, I’m going to go off on a little Mama Bear rabbit trail here because I had a deep discussion with my son last night. In a culture of young people now that is largely virtual and seldom encourages face-to-face social interaction, this is what we have ended up with. COVID has stunted them and bridged a political, ideological divide and our sons and daughters have shouldered the burden of this, relationally speaking. My own child is also 19. What is he doing this summer? He is working. I know. The concept is novel to these ICE-protesting, rioting whipper-snappers.
It made me think about college campuses today. It seems odd to me that a good-looking, smart, 19 year-old young man would have a hard time finding a nice girl to spend some time with but the climate he is living in is just “weird, man” (my son’s words). There are the cute, young girls who want a smart, cute, guy to date who “loves Jesus” like her (but only a fraternity bro so he can get them into parties with alcohol and, yes, sometimes drugs). This leaves my son at the door because he doesn’t have time or desire to rush a fraternity, get drunk every night or have any desire to do drugs. (I thank God for this.) He is driven and choses to focus on his career path instead. Then, there are the girls who are part of the Woke Army who think he is a frat bro and stay far away from his “toxic masculinity” (I also thank God for this). But this is what he has to choose from? There seems to be no in-between. Or, at least, if there is, these young women are all in hiding.
To some degree, my son is “in hiding” too. He rarely posts to his socials. He’s been burned before on the platforms and finds it all kind of toxic. He’s not political one way or another (though he did cast his vote for Trump last fall). He just sits back and watches.
Vega Violet Alia Barrada Gullette. Rachel Schreiber. Greta Thunberg. Or the Instagram Girls of Greek Life on the (Sooooo Frat) West Coast. Both polar opposites. Both types fueled by narcissism and both types relationally challenged. Pile this on top of normal guys who are a bit awkward and also relationally challenged and trying to navigate this whole mess of newfound independence. My son’s hopes for the future? A rewarding career. And the girl of his dreams? She’s out there and, like him, will surface someday and he’s made peace with that.
Kids all over the country are graduating and getting ready to embark upon what will define them in the future. Some will work the McDonald’s fry station. Some will summer in the Hamptons. Some will take selfies in in front of their sorority houses in hopes of landing the boy with the right Greek letters on his Insta profile. They will don keffiyehs and riot in the streets setting the American flag on fire or board yachts to Palestine. The rest of them will work hard at staying under-the-radar, sitting back, watching and taking it all in. I hope this makes them stronger. I hope this breaking point returns the culture of young people to normalcy.
